Let me start off this review stating I am a big fan of Tommy since I had my first burger with them 30 years ago at the original location. Normally their locations and and the experiences are generically the same every now and then there’s a few locations with the food taste up above and beyond freshness. Last week I visited this location for a double chili cheeseburger and upgraded them being a fatty to the quarter pound patties along with some chili cheese, fries, and drinks, Fergal, the experience there the speaker box was low volume. I couldn’t hear the girl from the drive-through was the shirt if she was able to hear me after I replace my order, I agreed to the upgrade of the bigger patties and the end of placing my order, my order was repeated to make sure it was correct. What I received on the other hand was not what I ordered. I received two plain single patty burgers and I called the place. They gave me some runaround about the receipt saying I ordered a quarter pound burger when I specifically asked for number one when I called and spoke with the manager the manager being a funny guy gave me the number to the wrong company and gave me the incorrect store info, luckily for me I was able to track down the corporate office number. Got all the issues sorted big shout out to Gracie who made sure my experience would not be repeated so just be careful when visiting this location. I have heard from other locals that they tend to charge you for one thing and give you something different from what you ordered, but besides that, Tommy’s is always a great location no matter what city this was just one bad, temporary experience and hopefully it does not reoccur to myself or any future visiting customers. As always,...
Read moreI grew up going, on occasion, to the original Tommy's on Beverly and Rampart, so my review may be a bit biased because I'm not comparing it to other fast food, but to the original, with the real shack. I haven't been there in quite some time but going to THAT Tommy's was more of an experience than any other fast food place I can remember. Parking, standing in line, ordering, paying, watching a guy with super-fast hands nearly literally throwing your burgers together, now that's entertainment! Then walking over to pick your canned sodas out of horizontal refrigerators. I don't think they had any chairs, but there was a counter across the parking lot you could eat at, or just eat in your car or take it home. As for the burger itself, I was with a friend so I was a little distracted, but it seemed like there was not as much chili (every burger is a chili-burger unless you order one without), the tomato slice was smaller and less onions. Oh! And it was made much too neatly, lol! We used the drive- through. Unless they changed it, the original never had a drive-through, and I hope not. "You don't mess...
Read moreThis place is classic. It hasn't changed in all my years of visiting since the 1990's, well the prices definitely have. But the fries have stayed the same. The chili has changed a bit. It's still good. It just isn't as tasty and greasy as it used to be before all the laws banning trans-fats. LoL. The original burgers are still good but I'm not a fan of their newer burgers on the menu or the thicker patties you can get in some. Years ago they used to have bigger hot dogs and they've definitely shrunk over the decades but they're still tasty. I always get a side order of pickles with burgers and dogs. If you like spicy definitely get extra chili's. I'm not a fan of sitting in the patio area since your in the middle of the parking lot and drive thru so you're getting bombarded with warm exhaust fumes constantly if you're there while it's busy. So I recommend getting your food to go or parking and staying in your car...
