A true treasure for visitors. Nicolls Cafe located in Pine City, MN., is remarkable find in a small city near Hinkley. Travelers who know Tobie's also know it is an oasis between Minneapolis and Duluth. It is on the beaten path. Here enters Nicolls. Off the beaten path and authentic. A family run Cafe serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I have enjoyed the hamburger, eggs, toast and hash brown potatoes. The 3 egg Denver omelet and the most wonderful 1/2 chicken dinner. The waitresses are above and beyond, their service tailored to you. Food prep and cooking are down home including biscuits and gravey. Liz and I found Nicolls Cafe by accident. We had gone to Pine City looking for a restaurant we did not find. We turned around and went to Nicolls. Our true fortune. Liz travels out to the west coast every other week departing and arriving at the Minneapolis St Paul International Airport. We now leave the airport when she returns and make a beeline to Nicolls for either breakfast, lunch, or dinner depending on our desire. You owe it to yourself to stop in at Nicolls to experience great food, service, and camaraderie. No Tuxedo or Evening Gown needed. Just relaxed attire for a relaxed time. If you're an old hippie with longish hair and a beard, Chakra beads, leather bracelet, metal bracelet (no not handcuffs, geez) and watch you might stand out. Who me? well yes but all are welcome and treated like family. Please take the time to stop at Nicolls and enjoy life and a meal away from the madness of the world, decompress, and savor. Liz and I did. We regret we did not look for...
Read moreNice for a ma and pa restaurant. But thats about it. Coffee was hot and old, the blueberry muffin was cept chilled and then microwaved to a scalding temp. All of the food and what not were distributed fromSysco systems so you really have a cookie cutter hole in the wall. However, nothing beats friendly service with a smile and honesty. Add that with a touch of family friendly non-threatening environment this is a really nice place to just sit back and chat about life.
I think the sign says it all; "Please accept our appreciation and sincere thanks for letting us serve you. Sometimes in the rush of business life we fail to say thanks loud enough to hear. But you can be sure your patronage is never taken for granted. Our aim is to please and satisfy you. To serve you is a...
Read moreI had the Country Fried Steak, Egg, Hash browns, and Toast... My wife had an Omelette stuffed with all kinds of things... And we split an order of Biscuits and Gravy...(First Time Customers, and wanted to "Try" a few things and planned on leftovers.) Everything was EXCELLENT! The Biscuits and Gravy was Awesome, as was my Country Fried Steak! Portions per Dollar value is good as well, the meal I got FILLED the plate. (This is NOT one of those places where you spend $10 for a tiny serving.) SO Remember to Bring Your Appetite! Waitress was nice and polite... They have tables with chairs, that are nicely spaced for Plus Sized People. Let's face it, we know where the "good" (but not always healthy) places are to eat. LOL. We...
