This was my first visit here, went for a treat after dinner neaarby. They were open late, which is a rarity in this area and is the main reason we decided to try them out. The desserts were exceptional, and the proprietors were super warm and welcoming. The restaurant was quiet and comfortable. The 4" pan cheesecake was among the best I've ever had with perfect smooth texture and rich flavor. Others in our group had similar reviews of their cheesecakes and cupcakes. Prices were very reasonable too. Although we were happy with our selected desserts from the display case, the owners evidently felt bad about having a limited selection available even though it was close to closing time. So while we were sitting and talking after dessert, they surprised everyone in the restaurant with an extra treat that hit the spot. It was a short glass of cold coffee topped with whipped cream, chocolate drizzle and sprinkles. The flavor was really good, and it was a perfect complement to the dessert. This experience showed me that they are very skilled in the kitchen, they really care about their customers, and they take a lot of pride in their restaurant. The only non-positive item in this review is the outside. They had those cheezy, bright, flashing LED string lights around the windows. I'm sure they help draw attention, but it really gave the place a gas-station-slot-machine or carnival booth kind of vibe when we pulled up. It was uncomfortable to the eyes and we almost drove off when we found this place since it didn't look anything like we expected from the website. I only mention this because its a really warm and comfortable place inside, which is in such contrast to the garish outward appearance, and I don't want someone to make the mistake we almost did in almost passing it by. We will definitely be back because of our experience and the staff going so far above and beyond. They treat you like family here and its clear they are in this business for the...
Read moreCouldn’t have been more disappointed with my experience. I ordered my wedding cake from Kat’s and when my dad went to pick it up... surprise! They didn’t have it! They said they didn’t have my order. Of course my dad called us frantically. My mom found the confirmation for the order and sent it to show them, because YES we did order the cake AND paid for it already! After seeing the confirmation they said they could make the cake in time for my reception.
They delivered the cake to my wedding venue literally minutes before I walked down the aisle. Surprise again! It was wrong. It was supposed to be a completely plain one-tier cake. I intended to have it be very plain and was adding a few eucalyptus branches and a handmade topper myself. Nope! It was two-tiers and had nutter butters ALL OVER it. Of course, this was totally off theme for the wedding I had planned for a year. I certainly didn’t want to serve a giant nutter butter cake. But I had no choice.
My mother told the man it was made wrong. He just said, “Well is it okay?”. She basically said, well no, but we have to use it. Of course I was very upset, and my ceremony started minutes later.
When I got done with photos and came in for the reception my photographer insisted we cut the cake immediately. Another surprise! The top tier (which I didn’t even want) was sliding off the cake and she was worried it would slide off before our planned time to cut the cake. So I had to cut my cake first thing, which was confusing to the guests.
All in all just a very upsetting experience on my wedding day. I’m not even sure that they cared. And what’s crazy is that we paid full price for a cake that they forgot to make and then made wrong. No refund, no discount, no coupon. I will never be ordering...
Read moreWe drove over 45 mins for a cake testing, in anticipation of using her for my niece's 1st birthday party. Upon entry, her home bakery smelled like someone just finished smoking 2 packs of cigarettes. The smell was distinct & undeniable. We overlooked it. Her cupcakes tasted like boxed cake; we couldn't taste the vanilla in the vanilla cupcake nor the cream cheese in the cream cheese frosting. However, we were willing to guide her with tweaking the recipes to our liking. Before leaving, we made arrangements with her to finalize our dessert selections. She even promised to deliver the cake by 6AM on the day of the party. Unfortunately, she lied to us. Ultimately, she chose to ignore all of our calls, voicemails, & emails. After leaving the cake tasting, we never heard from her again. If you're looking for a reliable baker, she's not the one. Thankfully, we were able to find a baker in town who delivered on...
