Millie's Homemade Ice Cream — Restaurant in Pine Township

Drove up for Chocolate Milkshake Day. (12 Sep 2022) We ran some errands and were the first in the store when it opened at 4 PM. +Staff was familiar with the promotion and provided helpful guidance. +Staff allowed mixing chocolate flavors in one milkshake. +Chocolate & Dairy Free Brownie Batter gave a solid chocolate flavor with coconut notes. +Staff advised and facilitated us splitting our order so as to get the discount on both chocolate milkshakes; we appreciate not being rule-gamed. -The milkshake cups are #7 plastic; allegedly commercially-compostable, but specifically not compostable in our backyard bins. Also not recyclable at curbside pickup. Disappointing, as Millie's paper cups for spoon-eaten ice cream are compostable.

So the staff, store, and ice cream are all good, but next time I'd stick with cones or paper-cup scoops rather than...

It was all around bad. The flavor that made me want to go there was the black tea boba - but they were out of boba and didn’t tell me at any point while talking about the ice cream or even once I ordered it. They handed me a bare scoop of black tea ice cream and I had to ask about the missing boba topping only to learn they no longer have it! They didn’t tell me they were missing literally 50% of the item as described on the menu, even after I mentioned multiple times that I came in for the boba. I got pistachio instead, which was a bad choice despite usually being one of my favorite favors. Very salty. Only a few pistachios, and they were soft. Bad mouthfeel - waxy/fatty. For $5 for a small scoop, the ice cream better be great and this was below average but at a premium...

Went there on a Sunday evening because my son has a dairy allergy and Millie’s is one of the few places that my son can enjoy a dairy free ice cream. We visited a year ago and had a great experience. When we arrived this time there was ice cream all over the tables, counter top and floors. With my sons allergy I felt he was unsafe to sit inside due to being exposed to dairy on every surface we had to sit outside. When we ordered I told the staff about my sons allergy and they only had one flavor he could have even thought there were multiple listed as dairy free. So sad we won’t be going back for the low quality...
