Lee's Famous Recipe Chicken — Restaurant in Piqua

This Lee's used to be alright. Just alright. Now I can't recommend it. I used to frequent this location for lunch as I work nearby, so I'm posting this as a former frequent customer.

I recently took a trip out of town and stopped at the Lee's in Bellfountaine for a rest stop and ordered some chicken not expecting anything great, but I was blown away with how good it was. The chicken was tender, breading was soft and flavorful. It made me realize how awful our Lee's here in Piqua is.

The chicken is always tough, greasy, and the breading slides off the actual chicken. It tastes of oil and the chicken is always tough.

I really want to go here more but every time I do I'm disappointed. I urge the owner of this franchise to visit the Bellfountaine location and take notes on what they're doing because however this location is being run right now is just not it.

The atmosphere is a little sterile compared to the other locations, but there's not much that can be done about that. The main things id point out with it are the difference in air pressure between the lobby and vestibule which makes the doors difficult to open, and the place usually has an off-putting smell of a bathroom floor cleaner. Not dirty, just not the smell you want to associate eating with.

Overall if you're looking for good chicken, KFC is the better option if you're able to go across town, or the current McCrispy tenders at McDonnalds.

Today I decided to get takeout and go home and enjoy the chicken. Everything was delicious, and I love the chicken liver so much. I don't know why the pieces of chicken seem to be getting smaller every time I go there, but the price doesn't reflect it. I ordered extra food for later including extra biscuits - specifically requested extra butter and honey, but I didn't get it. Is it really that hard to get? Evert time I am in Piqua - Lee's is on my list of places to go. I love Lee's! The chicken was good. I also ordered the gizzards and livers, but was disappointed. Why serve dried out food ? The liver was dry and hard to swallow. The gizzards were also dry as well as very tough. They had to have been sitting for a while. Disgusting. It would be really nice to hear from someone about this. It has happened twice now - I went back and tried again. The link I was told to use did not work. I would appreciate it if someone would contact me with a link that would work. I was there again today - and the manager looked at me like I was stupid for even saying anything about the food. Today - I didn't order the liver and gizzards, but the chicken was disappointing.! I used to work for famous recipe, 1983, 1984 and 1985 and loved the memories I Icame here to get spicy chicken dinner and they are out of spicy chicken on Saturday 7:30 PM and nobody is in the parking lot but me🤨 it gets worse. I have a three dollar off coupon for any family meal but, the girl working the cash register tells me it does not work on a three piece meal😡 I guess that’s not considered a family meal. I did not know that when I look at the picture on the coupon and see three pieces of chicken and two sides.
