China Magic — Restaurant in Piscataway Township

I wish I liked this restaurant more than I do. I have tried it a few times over the course of a few years. Not that I expect there to be much of a difference, but I've had both Dine In and Take Out. The people working behind the counter are nice and congenial. As far as I could tell, the same people working the counter and kitchen were also in charge of waiting the tables in the restaurant side. This meant that we weren't attended to quite as much as I'd like, but it was nowhere near a problem.

Unfortunately, the food wasn't up to par in my opinion. I normally get the same set of food from every Chinese restaurant: steamed dumplings, a shrimp roll, and orange flavored chicken. The steamed dumplings have been inconsistent, even in the same order. Every other one tastes off, almost gamey. This has happened on more than one occasion. Their shrimp roll has the tiniest shrimp you can imagine, and is unflavorful. The orange flavored chicken is too hard and chewy to be enjoyable. Overall, there is nothing that I could say I outright enjoyed. Mind you that I'm very picky, and I haven't tried very much of their menu.

First let’s start at the shrimp rolls only 2 shrimp in the shrimp roll and a lot of cabbage, the roll needs more shrimp. Second the broccoli brown sauce needs to be mixed up better, upon serving the broccoli the brown sauce comes out clear first, plus not enough brown sauce. It doesn’t matter how much you spend, you never get anything extra for free. If you need egg put in your rice it’s extra even though you don’t want the white rice that’s comes with your order. This is our go to Chinese Spot and they are always consistently on point. The food is always delicious and the restaurant is always very clean. The Family that runs and owns China Magic is very friendly and they love their customers. Everything on the menu is great. We especially love their garlic sauce, chicken wings and their dumplings and wontons. No delivery or delivery services, but trust me the food is worth the drive even if you're not right in the neighborhood. They are closed on Sundays but open the rest...
