Recently stayed here with my wife and small pet for a little rest and relaxation for a weekend. The gentleman at the front desk (Jules) was very friendly and professional. We checked-in, received our Key Cards to our room and some complimentary bottles of Water. Our room was very nice. A two-room Suite. Separate bedroom and a very decent size living area with Sofa, Chair, Ottoman, Small Dining Table complete with a Coffee station with its own Sink, Microwave and Mini-Fridge. A very relaxing room. The entire room including the Bathroom was very clean. A bit dated but very clean. No funny smells at all. Initially. Then after a few hours I noticed the nasty lingering stench of Herb in our room. I know it was present in our room because unfortunately it's not just an annoyance to me. My body actually reacts negatively to it. I stepped out to talk to Jules at the Front Desk but quickly realized the smell of Herb was blowing into the Main Lobby from the Parking Area. I turned around and went back to the room. I had to moisten a Bath Towel and placed it at the bottom of the Front Door to our room to help block out the Stench and Smoke from the Lobby. Can you imagine? It was disappointing to me. I know Herb stench is practically everywhere but it doesn't mean that the entire population supports its open use. Sorry but it's still a drug. Some people, like myself, react negatively to its presence. Many don't realize this because it's not commonly talked about. Depending on what strain of Herb is being smoked, I get Eye Irritation, Headaches, Nausea, Diarrhea, Respiratory problems. So unfortunately, I'm the first one to know when there is Herb present. The rooms are non-smoking rooms, yes, but there should be a strict policy of No Smoking on the premises outside the Parking Area as well. That area is still part of the establishment. There shouldn't be smoking allowed at least 1000 Feet from the Hotel building. At least. The Hotel is a place of business and this sort of thing should not be tolerated. I also experienced a large group on a Saturday with many kids that were running around the hallways and screaming until about 11pm. People, please be mindful of the other paying guests that are staying at this Hotel. I would ask the staff to pro-actively tamp down such activity. After all it's supposed to be a classy Hotel not an Amusement Park. Those that are staying are usually here for some peace, quiet and a little bit of pampering from their hectic daily lives. Now, the Food was great. The Staff were attentive and very polite. The Garden area with the man-made Stream of running Water was very nice and gave a Calming ambience. There's also a little store to buy some soda, chips, snacks if you're up late. I did notice a sign at the Buffet Table reminding guests to be "mindful". Apparently folks are filling their plates to overflowing levels. How embarrassing. Embassy Suites of Piscataway would rate better if they would enforce some basic rules. I would also suggest more Signage displayed in and around the Hotel about Smoking policy on the entire premises and about Conduct/Behavior in and around the Hotel. You need to display these things. Hard to argue with Signage. No one wants to come to an Establishment with a prominent HILTON name where there is drug use outside in the Parking Lot and Rambunctious/Unruly behavior inside. Who wants to pay for that? I certainly don't. This Hotel would rate better with these simple additional steps. Otherwise people will just quietly not return and choose someplace else to spend their money. Would I come back?? Not sure. Just being honest here. I'm really not sure. It's a real shame too because it's a very nice building with a beautifully decorated...
Read moreI came here with my family for a weekend hoping to come enjoy some quality time with my family. Unfortunately I left disgusted by how me and my family were treated. Thursday night we came into the hotel late, checked in and went to sleep so there wasn’t really much going on then. It was when we got to Friday night when the hotel’s problems revealed themselves. The security guard named Tyrone came to one of our rooms to inform us that we had kids walking around in the hallways and that they needed to be watched by someone over the age of 18. While this is understandable, I was a little surprised by this considering they weren’t doing anything and were old enough to understand where they should be and what they should be doing. Eventually I was in the lobby sitting on a couch while talking to my cousin, suddenly while in the middle of our conversation, we were once again approached by Tyrone. This time he was informing us that he had placed a 9pm curfew on us in which we must go to our rooms and remain there until the next morning. Being that this is totally ridiculous we decided to do what any normal person would do and ignore him. At this point the front desk had taken upon themselves to harass us by calling our rooms several times stating that we are being too loud and other people staying in the hotel were complaining. Earlier that night a bus full of at least 100 people from a college which was competing against Rutgers (which is near the hotel) pulled up to the hotel. The people of the people that came off of this bus were being a lot louder than the we were and were more likely the cause of the complaints. Once we were all in our rooms Tyrone went around from room to room, knocking very loudly on our doors waking up many children and their parents. He came to tell us that we must stay in our rooms and our doors must be fully closed and locked. At one point I left my room to go get my sister a diaper for her child from a different room. While I was in the hallway Tyrone threw his arms up at me, gave me a disgusted look, and asked me why I was out of my room as if I was a prisoner escaping from a prison. That night we were also threatened by Tyrone to be evicted from the hotel without refund just because we came over to him to try to talk to him. The next day we went over to Tyrone to try to retrieve a ball he had taken from a few of the little kids. We found him sitting outside the pool, which was strange because the pool had a sign that says no lifeguard on duty. When we approached him, we were rudely demanded to move because we were blocking his view of the pool which was full of little kids. Now I’m not trying to accuse anyone of anything, but I would be very concerned if a grown man who had no business being there was watching my children swim for no reason and was getting frustrated when people stood in his way of doing it. Thankfully that was the last encounter we had with Tyrone for the remainder of the trip. I also want to state that the following night there was a group of teenagers running around the hallways yelling and causing noise and they weren’t interrupted once by any form of hotel security. The hotel was clearly targeting our group which was very frustrating. In terms of the actual hotel, u get pretty much what u pay for. The pillows were smaller than my head, the water in the showers was cold and the location was literally in the middle of nowhere, but being that this was a pretty cheap hotel, I got pretty much what I was expecting. The hotel has potential if they fix some of their minor issues and get rid of Tyrone because that man basically ruined our trip all by himself and hopefully no one else should have to have this...
Read moreMy stay was horrible. Ive been a Hilton Honors member for years and have stayed here several times. But on this last stay I was very disappointed in Hilton. Upon checking in, my room the bathroom smelled unpleasant like a sewer. Upon informing front desk I was promised that someone would come upstairs to refresh my bathroom. No one ever came. I get dressed and go to the pool at about 6pm only to find out by another guest (not Guest services) that the pool had been closed since approx 3pm or so b/c someone pooped/ had a bowel movement in it. I am furious now bc I was just given my pool bands by guest services and I orginially reserved this room specifically for the pool bc it was a hot summer day. Lack of communication with staff and guests. Unacceptable! So im forced to remain for the rest of the evening in my room. The next morning, several plates during breakfast buffet at 630 am had ketchup, dried up food and more on it. Disgusting! And im appalled that this is coming from a Hilton. I mean how can this be so early in the morning? I had to wait 30 mins for milk as well. Also, when I asked the chef to speak with the manager her reply was, " For what?" Customer service and professionalism poor!!! Another guest asked for ice and a different worker walks her to the water fountain. She said no I need ice and she rolls her eyes bc she had to assist her in getting ice. I mean what are we paying for? Are we not entitled to the service & care promised to us, especially when we are being pleasant and not rude whatsoever? I then approach a guy in a blue suit collecting breakfast vouchers and asked for the General Manager bc I have several complaints. He says "Im the manager, don't i look like it?" What kind of response is that please tell me!? Anway I tell him, he says okay and asked one of the workers to clean the plates. I kept showing him like this plate, this plate, this plate. I counted 6 and stopped that were poorly or not washed. He tells the girl to wash those 6. No " GM" a wise manager would question if all of them are clean and for the health of the guests and the integrity of what Hilton represents they should have all ben rewashed. it was only two stacks. Like come on! He didnt check the rest or anything. Ridiculous! So I asked him also had the pool been cleaned. Bc im sure its not just a regular routine cleaning. He says oh yes every night 9 or 10 pm its cleaned. I said but the poop was in there so im just making sure things are okay. He then looks surprised and says Oh i had no idea. Poop? .Okay thanks for telling me I'll find out. Lack of commuication again I see. SMH! Come to find out hes not even the GM. Why lie? If you woul lie about who you are you could lie about the pool being clean, the dishes actually being washed again but properly, etc. I eventually spoke to a pool attendant later on who assured me that it was cleaned. She was very nice. I also spoke to Arianna (i think thats her name) at the front desk about my concerns Sunday morning. She made me feel like she was concerned about my problems. She listened to me wrote down notes and all. She was the first and i believe only staff member who actually apologized. She has the heart of customer service. Overall Hilton Embassy Suites Somerset needs staff training on professonalism and customer service. And communication needs to be established...
