Have you ever eaten in a place, and felt from the moment you walked in the door, that you weren't welcomed? That's what it felt like when I walked into this place.
I had been hearing great things about Pizzeria Manninos in Pitman. 4.5 out of 5 can't be bad, right? 🤔
We walk in the place, and no one greets us. We asked the gentleman at the stove can we sit anywhere and he says yes. After we sat down, a waitress comes up to us, and tells us we can't sit there because of reservations. And she asked us if we want to sit in the back, where it's kind of crowded. I didn't want to do this, so after dancing around a bit, we finally found a seat near the front that wasn't around that many people but was directly behind a family. Mind you, no one else came in after we came in and the place was practically empty, except for the back. So there was that. 😡
The waitress asked us if we wanted drinks. She puts what we first thought was ice water, but was in fact, glasses with only ice in them. Then, she asked us what we wanted to drink. We asked what she had. She said, lemonade, sparkling water, and Coke products. I'm thinking fresh lemonade. No, she brings out a bottle of Coca-Cola products lemonade ($4). 😑 The sparkling water was a small Pellegrino ($4).
We asked for a half sausage, half plain pizza. ($26) Toppings were minuscule, almost an afterthought. A dusting of sausage that offered no flavor. At most brick oven places, you get slices of sausage. I couldn't taste the sauce. Not the best flavor wise. The crust was good, though. I've included pictures.
I've never felt so uncomfortable in a restaurant before in my life. One of the cooks kept staring at us while we ate, it was strange. He finally stopped after a while. Between him, and the waitress being weird when we walked in, it just made everyone uncomfortable 😨
I probably won't be visiting this place again. I can get better service and brick oven pizza in Township. Glassboro, even. Definitely 1.5 out of 5. I don't know what the hullabaloo...
Read moreWe called to place an order for 2 pizzas, and were told the wait time would be 1 hour and that curbside pickup was an option. Not a problem with us given the circumstances. We pull up 1 hour and 5 minutes after our scheduled pickup time, tried calling for 5 minutes to no avail. Finally, my husband puts his mask on and goes inside to find a large crowd of others waiting. He hears the phones have been disconnected (great, how are we supposed to complete our contactless pickup?). He proceeds to wait ANOTHER HOUR inside, all the while watching others with order numbers in the tens higher than ours pick up their 5 pies. Terrible customer service, dozens of people were aggravated by the situation, and there was no explanation as to why orders were taking so incredibly long. When asked about the approximate additional wait time, all that the staff could say was that our order would be right up. The owner had a complete lack of regard for proper PPE, he was touching food and completing orders without wearing a mask. He was rude to his staff, who were already flustered and overwhelmed. We finally receive our order 2 hours and 15 minutes after we placed it (1 hour and 15 minutes late than we expected). Sure, that was "right up"... The pizza was small and sub-par for the price. We will absolutely not be returning. We do NOT recommend this place and will discourage all our family and friends to not spend...
Read moreYes, I know - my office is in Pitman and it has taken me almost 9 years to try Pizzeria Manninos in Pitman. And wow, I should have done it sooner!
My cousin Jamie and I met up to catch up on things, and we were the first served. The decor is appealing and inviting for dining in. The table was all set up for ordering pizza (pizza stand, small plates, seasonings). by the time we left, they were quite busy.
Although I love pizza, we ordered paninis. The portions are definitely meant to take half home (HUGE). Which my cousin was smart enough to do. I couldn’t figure out how I would heat it up, so… I finished it. No regrets. Just ate a very lite dinner.
We started with AMAZING pesto garlic knots. For the main course, she got the Toscano (roasted chicken breast and fresh mozzarella) and I got the Giardino (melange of roasted veggies and mozzarella). Both prepared on homemade, wood fired artisan bread with roasted peppers, pesto and a side of arugula salad. To be honest, I’ve never been crazy about wood-fired pizza or bread, but this is the best grilled vegetable sandwich I’ve had in my entire life. They really nail it!
This is definitely a must try. Be sure that you are going to the right place as they have two locations in Pitman. One is there Italian restaurant down the street. This one is located at 170 S. Broadway on the corner of Laurel...
