I’d like to preface by saying, I’m no certified food critic, nor am I some blogger that creates videos raving about some restaurant i visited on tiktok or instagram. I’m just a young adult that likes to visit Squirrel Hill every once in awhile. When I first stumbled upon Amazing Dumplings, I was with my girlfriend. Our very first visit there, we were greeted with the same atmosphere we experience every time we go there: partially empty seating, calm Chinese music playing over a low speaker, so on and so fourth. All such elements combine, every single time to produce this authentic, deeply personal and intimate dining experience that I truly believe adds even further to the excellent quality of the food.
The food is undeniably amazing. I don’t know if the name “Amazing Dumplings” came about after constant raving or otherwise, but they sure as hell practice what they preach. Growing up with basic Dumplings from Chinese takeout, this was a completely new experience. I legitimately believe I was blown away the first time I was there. Additionally, as I’ve brought my friends here over the past year, they too have begun to frequently rave and talk about the wonder and culinary excellence that is “Amazing dumplings”. In fact, our given nickname to the place is simply “the dumpling place” as is to say that no other restaurant that sells dumplings will ever be quite as famous or well-respected as Amazing Dumplings.
In terms of service, I would describe it as nothing short of excellent. The waitresses are all the same. Usually one of three women serve you, and I as well as everyone I have ever brought to dine here would be able to attest that all of these women are total sweethearts. Ive gone here frequently enough with my friends that they’ve begun to recognize us and greet us. I’d like to note that I live about 40 minutes away, driving here is not convenient whatsoever. So to be recognized as a frequenter despite coming here only once a month at the most is extremely touching. Everyone that works here always has a smile on their face. The few workers you see truly improve the warm and welcoming environment, similar to that of one you might get at a mom and pop pizza shop or diner. Without the spectacular workers, Amazing Dumplings would certainly feel less amazing.
I may be young, I may have not traveled the world as much as food critics or entrepreneurs have, but I can assure one thing that those people can too: Amazing Dumplings is deserving of the highest praise any restaurant institution can receive. Everything from its excellent and inviting staff, to its warm, genuine and cozy atmosphere, to the excellent, mouth watering, flavorful, and down right marvelous dishes, are amazing. Amazing Dumplings may be the name, but the dumplings are far far far from the only things that are amazing. I love this place, I truly truly do.

Read moreAmazing Dumplings lives up to its name in every way. From the moment you step inside, you're welcomed by an incredibly friendly and inviting atmosphere, matched by a staff that truly enhances the experience. Their dumplings are nothing short of works of art—beautifully crafted, vibrantly colored, and thoughtfully presented. Every bite reflects the care and skill that goes into making them, with handmade dough and hand-stuffed fillings that set them apart. To start, we had the vegetable eggroll and fried scallion pancake, both crisp and flavorful. For the main event, we sampled a variety of dumplings, each with its own unique flavor profile: Pork Pickled Cabbage Dumplings – A tangy twist from the pickled cabbage, adding a delightful sourness. Van Gogh Starry Map Dumplings – A stunning tofu-based, meatless option, as artistic as it is delicious. Sunrise Rainbow Chicken Dumplings – Almost too pretty to eat, these rainbow dumplings were as flavorful as they were colorful. Secret Mala Pork Dumplings – Served untossed, allowing you to mix in the spices for an extra kick of heat. General Tso’s Chicken Dumplings – A sweeter, comforting take on a classic flavor. Beyond dumplings, we also tried the Hot Oil Beef Wide Noodles, another standout dish. The long, handmade noodles arrive untossed, requiring a mix to fully incorporate the rich, spicy flavors. The texture and taste were absolutely incredible. Overall, Amazing Dumplings delivers both visually and flavor-wise, making it a must-visit spot for dumpling lovers and anyone looking to experience North China home-style cuisine at its finest. Highly...
Read moreI’ve been there twice traveled all the way from Beaver to try their food and just not impressed. I don’t know what I’m missing but nothing has flavor. The pork sandwich I had was so dry. It was falling apart and both of the appetizers that I ordered looked absolutely nothing like the picture. Nothing like completely different food. The weight staff was borderline cranky contemptible. And I was really excited to try one of their famous noodle bowls, and I’m still looking for the flavor. It tasted like old dishwater. And truthfully, their dumplings are nothing to write home about. I’m not even sure if they make them in house. Very disappointed. Don’t waste your time or your money which was $130 for two people with no alcohol. Bad from start to finish. And if you look closely online, you will see pictures of their food that is either a bait and switch or was just blatantly put on there to lie. The picture I saw of the scallion pancake I saw online showed a thick pancake and that you got 14 slices yeah right. Mine was barely able to be held in my hand without falling apart and there was six pieces or maybe eight in the size of a small tortilla. I could go on and on and on just so disappointed. Thanks for listening and I hope you all have a better experience than...
