My friend who lives in Pittsburgh suggested this place for a bite to eat while in town and it was a couple of blocks from our Airbnb so we decided to stop in and eat. We were all a bit “under the weather” from the game the night before and decided this sounded perfect. I went with the chicken quesadilla appetizer for starters, which could have been its own meal and was very good. I like spicy food and the fresh jalapeños in this thing were hot. Took me by surprise a bit but delicious all the same. I liked that they were hot and not tasteless canned jalapeños. I had ten garlic parm traditional fried wings, which were very good. Cooked perfectly and quite fat. They have smoked wings were huge and both of my friends said they were delicious. None of our food stood a chance and even though I wasn’t feeling the best, I crushed my wings and quesadilla. The beer and cocktail menu is top notch. They have the beer they brew and they have an awesome selection of other local and regional beers, ciders, mead, wines, and even a ginger beer and sangria (the sangria was delicious as I tasted that). The bartenders were great and attentive even when it got busy. They had some live music which added to the chill ambience and the singer had a very nice voice. This place stayed busy throughout dinner hours and was busy each time we walked past. We didn’t make it back for another meal while in town, but look forward to stopping here when we come back next year.

This was our first place to try in Pittsburgh and it did not disappoint. We shared several appetizers and it was more then enough for two people. The smoked wings with garlic Parmesan (5 pc) were the beat wings either of us had ever had. Their signature smoked wings are breaded and then smoked and then the flavor is added afterward. The pretzel was soft with the perfect amount of salt, and it came with three dipping sauces (spicy mustard, mustard and cheese) and the chicken artichoke flatbread was filled with a ton of flavor. The crust was similar to pita and on the softer side, but firm enough to hold the toppings. The fried mushrooms were tasty and crispy and well seasoned, the horse radish dipping sauce topped it off nicely. We sat at the bar and made friends, the bartender recommended great drinks, highly suggest the sangria, real fruit is added on top to give it a nice finish. The imperial stout was delicious also. Highly recommend for anyone wanting a great meal or somewhere to hang out or meet up for a drink.

Fat Head’s is a local bar and restaurant brewing their own beer and serving an extensive menu of pub food in Pittsburgh’s South Side. Their beer is brewed in Ohio and distributed outside the Pittsburgh area, and everything I’ve had in bottle has been decent. That said, this spot offers a broader variety of brews to choose from. Expect a local sports bar vibe with exposed brick, plenty of TVs, and service which, in our experience, wasn’t as solid as the beer. The food menu is packed with bar bites like fried pickles (highly recommended), sandwiches, and a few casual entree options. The food is more casual comfort food than sophisticated gastropub grub. The portions are generous and everything we’ve had has been a great value. The smoked wings are a personal favorite, but the Pittsburgh salad is a good, somewhat unique option with crispy fries, grilled peppers and onions, and your choice of protein stacked on a salad. Overall, this is a great place to grab a beer or cheat meal and catch a game.

We have had consistently great experiences with Fat Head's Saloon. Obviously, they have a great beer selection sure to please just about anybody. But the food is also great. My only complaint is that they got rid of their Cheese Curds! Their Cheese Curds were the best around, so we were quite disappointed to find they took them off the menu.

However, the disappointment was only temporary. We opted for the fried pickle chips as our appetizer instead. The dipping sauces were honey mustard and Sriracha 1000 Island. The latter was on the spicier side, but was still good. We also asked for Ranch on the side, which was probably the best of the three dipping sauces, and should probably be the default for the pickle chips.

I went out on a limb and ordered Renee's Red, Hot, and Blue (I usually avoid anything with bleu cheese), and was pleasantly surprised with the burger being in my top 5% of burgers I've ever had. I have it on good authority that the French Onion Soup was very good. On a previous visit, we've had the whole, smoked wings, which were also phenomenal. The only thing they are missing when it comes to their wing menu is the option of Lemon Pepper dry rub. But hey, if they don't have what you want, try something else because you're still...

One of my absolute favorite wing spots on the East Coast.

The wings are meaty, well cooked and well sauced.

Pinheads are pretty sizable sandwiches - with a wide range of options.

But I do miss that are used to have a fathead versus the Volcano wing challenge - which you had to sign a waiver for.

One of the funniest stories that I can really count was that while I was at Carnegie Mellon; we were at the bar and I saw a yinzer offer his buddy to

mow his lawn for a year wash his car for 6 months pay his bar tab

IF he ate the 5 piece volcano challenge.

He finished 3.

I've finished 5 a few times - but it was like eating 10 of the #Paqui #onechipchallenge chips in one sitting.

Their current hottest sauce is pretty decent - but not the competition level, they had before.

The Caribbean killers are pretty awesome - And if you just want something flavorful try the garlic Parms.

Wing that is also pretty great; because you can bring a couple of friends and get a bucket of 50 - Or just take that down yourself if you're feeling adventurous.

It's also kind of neat to see that their once small craft brewery - is now exporting fat head lagers outside...
