Just got home from an excellent first experience here!
I’ve been excited about trying this place ever since I saw on Facebook that they were opening at the new shopping center.
We went today (Sunday around 11:20 AM). We were the only ones here. We were promptly greeted with a smile by the cashier, and we placed our order. This isn’t the first time we’ve eaten at a Five Guys, so we were already prepared for the sticker shock of spending $25+ on two bacon cheeseburgers and an order of fries and budgeted accordingly.
This location is brand new. It’s very clean. Parking is available directly behind the shopping center (accessible via South Atlantic Avenue by the Hyatt House Hotel). Our food was prepared in a reasonable amount of time and was brought up to the counter by the cook. She was also pleasant and had a smile on her face.
We tore right into our burgers. Greasy. Fresh. Delicious. Bliss! You can tell the burger patties are better than other fast food places and are worth the pricing premium. They provide a GENEROUS portion of crispy fries—so many that we took the paper bag home to reheat some later in our oven as a side with our dinner.
I really hope they are able to maintain cleanliness, quality, and pleasantness in the coming months as more people learn about this location, and they get busier. This is one of only two locations in the city (the other being at Waterworks) with ample free parking. Parking is nearly impossible at the Oakland or Downtown locations.
We’ll be back! Thanks for a...
Read moreDissatisfied with my experience.
I decided to stop in for a little cheeseburger. I ordered the little cheeseburger all the way with green peppers. The total is over $10. My hair stood up thinking something was wrong. I received the receipt and checked only additionally charge was about 70¢ in tax. So I brush it off and move on.
While waiting for the burger I am looking at the menu and see that the little cheeseburger is $8.49. It doesn’t make sense with how much I paid so I’ll look at my receipt again to find out that the cashier has rung me up for a little bacon cheeseburger. I bring this up, frustrated that I was charged for something over a dollar and ten cents more. I mention it and the cashier says “you said bacon cheeseburger” when they should have said “I thought you said bacon cheeseburger.” I definitely didn’t say bacon. After some discussion nothing really happens and the bacon stays on my burger.
While waiting for them to finish my incorrectly made burger I notice what appears to look like jalapeños. I ask, sure enough they are putting jalapeños on the burger. Cashier says again “you said jalapeño peppers,” no, I said green peppers. They then decide to scrap the burger and I wait for an entirely new burger. They hand me the new burger and then I go on my way. Really no attempts to reconcile the mistakes that were made. If you make a mistake it’s OK but there should be some attempt to fix it. Or make it right. Really frustrated with...
Read moreI frequent this five guys pretty often, and felt compelled to leave a positive review today because it's always a great experience with the staff, but today, in particular I could tell that they were very overwhelmed by orders. Orders. That place my order online like I typically do and when I came to pick it up I realized that not only did they have a line for people who would coming in to order. But they also had a line for people who were picking up for online orders and service orders. I think anyone in this situation would be very irritable and overwhelmed, but the staff was working very diligently to fulfill every order in a timely manner and they were apologizing for the wait which wasn't even that long. I think just watching their work ethic really made me appreciate the effort they were putting in to making sure that we got good service and good food. I hope whoever owns this location recognizes the good staff that they have on board. Thank...
