I ordered a large pizza 🍕 and a cheese steak hoagie from the squirrel hill location. When ordered with what sounded like a young girl over the phone I was very specific in what I wanted on the pizza 🍕 and cheese steak hoagie. She even asked again to confirm my order and I repeated the same. The pizza 🍕 was made as requested but to be honest it's very bland, very oily and greasy, and so much cheese it's like eating a piece of rubber. The cheese steak was made completely wrong. I specifically requested a plain cheese steak with "ONLY" the meat and cheese and nothing else and even repeated and confirmed this when the girl asked me a 2nd time. I received the cheese steak with the meat and cheese but it also had a hot steak sauce, lettuce, tomato, and onion. I called and advised it was made wrong and I was given a hard time and put on hold for several minutes. They finally agreed to issue a credit. Next day I called to have remade and when I told the woman who answered the phone I had a credit it took several minutes to confirm my credit from the night before. I then repeated myself 5 times how I wanted my cheese steak hoagie with "ONLY" the meat and cheese and nothing else. With another man employee in the background saying he wants steak sauce ?, lettuce ?, tomato ?...I said "NO" for the 5th time I only want The bread, steak & cheese and "NOTHING ELSE" !!! I went to pick up and when I got home there was literally only enough steak to cover half of the bread not to mention the steak was so dryed out it was like eating leather. I even took pictures to show. I do not recommend at all. 1st time trying Mineos and this is a 1 and done for me. Not to mention a large 3 topping pizza and 1 whole hoagie was almost $50.00. Save yourself time and order from someone that doesn't give you a hard time and joke about the situation when you go and pick up the replacement meal that they screwed up. Very disappointed to say the least...

Drove through traffic 40 minutes from the south hills. I was in town with 2 colleagues who are both corporate chefs. I have been talking up mineos for a couple years. Friday evening 7-12-24, the very day the article in the new York times came out. I picked up a large pie with pepperoni. Took it back to the house and was very excited to have a mineos pie, only to find that it had been burned and way over cooked. I have been in the industry for over 40 years and have trained 100's of young chefs and I am well aware that sometimes these things do happen, but when they do you discard the mistake and prepare a new item. I was so embarrassed by the burned pie I had been talking up for 2 years. Absolute absence of management to serve that to anyone. We tried to eat it because we were starving but it was awful tasting. I waited until I was back in town to send this review so I could take a photo of the remnants of the disappointing attempt to dine at mineos in squirrel hill. DSW Food and beverage director

It's been quite some time since I've had Mineo's, and was looking forward to trying it again. I ordered a large pizza with homemade sausage, roasted red peppers and extra sauce. Every ingredient, including the more than generous portion (just like the "old days") of their cheese blend, were excellent. The reason for the three stars is they didn't honor my request for extra sauce - although the modifier was clearly printed on the expo ticket. As the attached picture demonstrates, there wasn't even an adequate amount of sauce for a standard pie. Definitely disappointing. That said, the homemade meatball hoagie was spot on, with two giant meatballs that completely filled the bun of a half order, as well as the extra sauce I had requested. But given the failure to execute a simple request considering there was only one other person in the place and only a few orders displayed in the ticket holder on the line, I don't feel encouraged to return.

Yesterday I had the worst customer service experience of my life inside of Mineos Pizza House in Pittsburgh.

I first ordered a chicken salad and worked with the cashier to customize my salad which included, no olive, no green peppers and the other worker behind the counter informed her that radish did not come on the salad anymore.

After waiting for my order I opened it to see a a bunch of green peppers mixed throughout the salad. I went to the counter and informed the cashier of what happened, however before I could simply ask for a cup of banana peppers, the girl demanded that I bring her the salad. I brought her the salad and simply thought they’d make a new one. The cashier proceeded to take the salad to the back of the restaurant, then come back up to the front where they make the pizzas and use her BARE HANDS to THROW banana peppers in my salad one by one.

This didn’t make any sense to me as I was actively watching the pizza makers create pizzas with gloves on.

She then announced that the order was ready and I kindly informed her that I just saw what took place and I would like for to receive some of my money back. She rudely stated that she’d get a manager.

I then waited about 20mins and a manager comes out with a new salad. I went up to the pick up counter and informed him that I didn’t ask for a new salad and I instead asked for my money back because of all that took place.

Instead of listening to the facts he then proceeded to gaslight me. He first said they “dont give refunds like that” I said “okay but y’all made the order wrong and then she used her dirty hands to the try to fix it”

He told me “green peppers are in the salad” I said right which is why I didn’t order them and instead ordered banana peppers. He then repeated that they don’t give refunds and that I am going to take the salad.

I even stated that they could keep the money that I ALREADY PAID for the chicken and fries that I was eating but that I want the money back for the salad because of all that took place.

He then said OH SO YOU DIDNT PAY FOR YOUR FOOD BUT YOURE EATING IT. I informed him again that I did.

However, upon writing this review, even if that was the case it would still be a mistake on the staffs part.

The entire exchange was beyond unprofessional and Mineos Pizza House is breaking Consumer Laws in addition to the need for a health department inspection. I hope this review reaches the actual owner because the “20 year manager” of the place should be investigated for his poor management practice's.

This all resulted in me the salad projecting on the floor and me being called names by the staff ( I.e. GHETTO) as well as, being told I can go up to other pizza places up the street. All because of mistakes THEY made.

Even after offering multiple solutions. Caitlin...

🍕🍕🍕🍕🍕 5-Star Review: Fantastic Pizza with a Tasty Twist at Mineo's in Pittsburgh, PA! 🍕🍕🍕🍕🍕

If you're craving a slice of heaven in Pittsburgh, look no further than Mineo's Pizza! My recent dining experience at this charming pizzeria left me in awe and eager to share my delight with others. Let me tell you why this place deserves a full 5-star rating!

First and foremost, the pizza at Mineo's is simply mouthwatering. The moment I took my first bite, I knew I was in for a treat. The crust was perfectly crispy on the outside while maintaining a soft and chewy texture on the inside, striking an ideal balance that's hard to find. The sauce was rich and tangy, expertly seasoned with just the right amount of herbs. It's evident that they use quality ingredients to create their delectable pies.

But what truly sets Mineo's apart is their ingenious twist: they put the toppings under the cheese! This little deviation from the norm made all the difference. With each bite, I got to savor the delightful combination of flavors that melded together seamlessly. The toppings stayed moist and locked in their scrumptious essence, resulting in a taste explosion with every mouthful. It's an innovation that leaves traditional pizza behind and creates a whole new level of pizza indulgence.

The ambiance of the place was cozy and inviting, with friendly staff members who made my visit even more enjoyable. Their attention to detail and willingness to cater to specific preferences further added to the overall dining experience. The service was prompt, and my pizza arrived piping hot, straight from the oven.

One can't talk about Mineo's without mentioning the generous portions. Their pizza sizes are perfect for sharing with friends and family, making it an ideal spot for a gathering or a casual meal. I couldn't help but notice how happy the other patrons were, and the positive energy around me added to the pleasure of the meal.

To sum it up, Mineo's Pizza in Pittsburgh, PA, is an absolute gem! The exceptional taste, the innovative toppings-under-cheese twist, and the warm and welcoming atmosphere combine to create an unforgettable pizza experience. If you find yourself in the area, don't miss the chance to indulge in this pizza paradise. I highly recommend Mineo's, and I'll definitely be coming back for more of their pizza perfection. Five stars well...

Mineo's is a local Pittsburgh pizza legend, and for good reason. It has stood the test of time as one of the originals. From this, the original location, at the heart of Squirrel Hill. But people come from a lot further than Murray Avenue to get this pizza. And for good reason! It's a time honored Pittsburgh tradition.

So, how did this pizza hold up for me?

I'll be honest up front and say that Mineo's has a lot of really steep competition these days. Both from its age old competitors, and new blood. It holds up to these competitors, and offers a premium-antique dining experience at a low price. So long as you pay with cash.

That being said, it isn't quite my preference. That being said, I'm sure it is someone's!

The pizza is a thin stiff (read: not crispy) crust with a thick layer of cheese and a stiff, narrow edge. The sauce is sweet, and the cheese rather rich. While fresh, it's a cheese pizza that will hit you all at once with a pungent, proper pizza flavor. Also, with a wise mix of buried and unburied toppings, its options for topping combinations are more unique than most places!

For me, the flavors were very good, but didn't quite hit the top spot for me. Also, if you're impatient, this pizza will pull apart without exception. Letting it cool, at least a little bit, is required if you don't want to reassemble it after a bite. (I don't see this as a negative, just something you should be aware of. It's that fresh!)

Additionally, it's a somewhat greasy pizza. Not the greasiest, not by a long shot. I don't see this as a negative, as some people like a greasy pizza. I think this one could suit just about anyone, as long as they aren't a hard No-Grease person when it comes to pizza.

In the end, what really blew me away, were their non-pizza options. The Arancini were divine, garlic bread made from Mancini's was divine, and the wedding soup held up to my Italian-American family's expectations. Some of them who have gone to Mineo's since before I was alive.

So, don't just take it from me. I encourage anyone and everyone to get down tos quirrel hill, and make the trip to Mineo's...
