Ordered oxtails, beans &rice with cabbage. The gravy/sauce was so thick that it did not fully seep thru the rice, it remained on top. Most of The rice had to be eaten dry. The cabbage is made unusual, maybe an up North thing? We cut our cabbage up fine in the south and sometimes add a Lil piece of meat for taste with it lol. Overall, not bad. Oxtails was good and fall off the bone tender. Nice taste. The rice was good too. I will revisit but I won’t order cabbage again. EDIT: I doubled back-revisited a year later (6/2021) and unfortunately I have to remove one of the stars (from 4 to 3) bc the food was not great (not for the price of almost $20). I ordered online: oxtails, peas and rice and veggies but when I got their I was offered Mac and cheese bc they only had cabbage as a vegetable. So when I got there, my Oder was not ready. She said that online orders are fixed after a certain time lapse. Online I was given a specific time and I wait 10 minutes after the time given-still wasn’t ready to grab and go. That’s the purpose of online ordering, to eliminate the wait at the restaurant. I told her that I’m on a tight schedule and really can’t wait to long. She didn’t like when I complained ab not being able to wait to long. Again, I ordered online plus gave extra time bc my time was extremely limited that day. Anyway, The food seemed old, well the oxtails seemed old. The rice was ok. The Mac and cheese was awful. Red and green peppers 🌶 🫑 in the Mac and cheese 🤮. Can I have a refund please? Still no gravy, I guess this is their style of cooking. I do not like it, will never pay for another plate here either. I’m sorry but I won’t be back, this style of cooking is not for me. Maybe there are some delicious items on ur menu but I’m not taking anymore chances, sorry.

Love Caribbean food, and it's been a long time since I last had some so I've been craving it. Pauline's definitely delivered (both literally and figuratively). The food is homey, flavorful, and all around delicious. It's a great price as well. I ordered the chicken patty, the beef patty, and brown stew chicken (comes with 2 sides - I got rice with peas and cabbage). All of the food was great! I had originally ordered for plantains and rice with peas to be my sides, but I suppose they didn't have the plantains. The cabbage was a good substitute. It's got a mild flavor, a hint of sweetness, and it goes well with the meat. The rice with peas (black beans, really not sure why they call them peas) was also super delicious. Flavorful and plentiful. Very good, although a bit dry. The sauce from the chicken really adds to the rice so you can soak it up. The chicken itself was also high quality and comforting. Very tender meat. There were bones (I prefer boneless) but not too messy of a meal. The sauce is excellent. Nice and savory. The chicken is also served with some potatoes, which were just okay. Both of the patties were quite good. Great price at just $3.50. These were very large patties as well, more than the standard. The chicken patty was quite moist on the inside, but very crispy on the outside. It was a bit on the spicy side. The beef patty was delicious as well. It was more crispy. Both of these are great additions to your Caribbean meal. All in all, Pauline's is a great spot for Caribbean food. The prices here are very reasonable and the portions are hefty. Most importantly, the food tastes like it's soul food, like it's home made. Very good stuff.

Pauline I am born and raised in Pittsburgh but lived in Brooklyn for many years. I have a son who is West Indian by way of New York . Your food is supposed to be made fresh daily not refrigerated. When I cooked in Brooklyn on Nostrand Ave people would literally bring food back and throw it over the counter demanding money back for food that’s not fresh. My advice to you is take pride in your business. You represent a whole community. Get up like you’re supposed to at 6am and start cooking fresh wholesome food. You can’t cook on Monday for the whole week. If what you make sells out it is what it is. I actually got sick off of your food once and still came to support you. This is why I’m writing this. Put vegetables in your food how it’s supposed to be as well. These oxtails are tough. Your response was don’t talk something about I don’t know. You must be tripping. Your food is trash. I just spent $75 dollars and gave you a tip hoping you would get it together. If it was up to me I would boycott this place. Most of your customers have never had authentic. I bet you and your hubby doesn’t even eat this food. I support black bus but it was salty and it was old refrigerated food. I asked you if it was fresh and you said it was. I’m not making this up. I don’t have any reason to slander you or your business. My opinion is if it’s convenient then do you. If you want good authentic Jamaican food this ain’t it.
