We went here on a Saturday at 1:00pm to celebrate our daughter and her boyfriend's graduation from college. The view from the table was fantastic. Our waitress seemed disinterested from the start. We waited at least 15 minutes to have our drink order taken We then waited another 20 minutes until our drinks arrived. My drink and my wife's drink were not delivered. Before we could mention this, our waitress disappeared for another 10 minutes. When she came back to take our orders, we told her about the missing drinks (which she admitted that she forgot to put in to the bar). Our drinks, intended to make a toast to our children's accomplishment, arrived after everyone else had basically finished their drinks. After we ordered, we saw many tables around us arrive, get served their drinks, meals and actually leave before we got our food. When we finally got our food (50 minutes after ordering) the people who ordered steaks, got their food served piping hot. Everyone else received food that was ice cold. The chicken and fries on my salad, as well as my wife's scallops and Brussel sprouts we not even tepid. I immediately sent it back and went downstairs to speak with the manager. Apparently this restaurant is severely understaffed as the manager appeared to be another server who offered no recourse for the issues with our meals and drinks. She even made the chef come to our table to take back the scallops and other food that was not edible. The fries came back warmer but the scallops were luke warm when they came back. By this time everyone else was done eating. The entire experience was exasperated by a server who did not seem to care. At this point, we just wanted this to all end and we asked for our check. When the check indicated that a 20% gratuity was already added to our check, the demeanor of our waitress now made sense. I understand the delay in service due to being understaffed however, there is no excuse for the condition of the food served, especially when overpaying ($38 for 5 scallops or $25 for a salad) for meals. In the end, this restaurant made no effort what so ever to attend to our issues or even offer anything (Free drink, dessert, comped food, etc) to make up for our two and a half hours spent there dissatisfied. I gave it one star for the view which was the only good thing this restaurant...
Read moreIf I could give negative stars I would. I brought my family from out of the country to what was supposed to be a celebratory dinner after being in Pittsburgh for the first time in 33 years. From the moment we walked in we should have known better.
We were told there were no outside tables available and were told to dine indoors. After a good 5 minutes, we noticed there were 5 open tables outside. After ordering drinks, there was only one busy table outside. They did not offer to reseat us outside.
Secondly, we ordered Coke Zero, sweet tea, and lemonade and were informed that they didn’t have any zero drinks or sweet tea, and ran out of non-alcoholic lemonade.
We placed our dinner orders; roast chicken, feta apple chicken salad, and steak and potatoes (medium).
Waiter comes back 5 min later to regrettably inform us the kitchen ran out of roast chicken.
Another 10 minutes later he’s back to ask whether it’s ok to substitute the feta for cheddar, since they are, “also regrettably out of feta”.
Finally, when the food arrived, the steak was cooked WELL, and was as solid as a frisbee, and the potatoes were cooked MEDIUM, and coulda broken a window with them.
They kept playing industrial rock, which is fine, but not at the volume or the atmosphere you’d expect from supposed fine dining. They didn’t bother turning the lights on for us until 9pm well after the sun had set, and they had issues with the card reader. We spend over 200$ at dinner and they didn’t offer to take off anything as a way to apologize for their shoddy service. Kudos to the waiter for the cardio he got in coming back and forth from the kitchen to deliver bad news after bad news throughout the entire meal though.
The prices absolutely do not reflect the poor service and quality this “fine dining” experience is supposed to provide. This place might have been great 20 years ago but it is dingy, extremely overpriced, and regrettably out of everything. You’re more likely to find better food and service in the river than this saloon. Save ur money and time and do...
Read moreI have been here 3 times in as many years. The first time was summer we sat outside and it was truly a breathtaking view and experience, you feel like you’re hovering above the city, it’s so cool. That’s where it ends. Both our steaks were overcooked and over priced but it was such a nice view that we decided to go back about a year later. We were the only ones in the place and our server was great but sitting inside was vastly different. Several ceiling tiles are water damaged or missing, they have dirty table clothes over the bannister to act as a makeshift barrier between seating and the kitchen/reception area. The walls are painted sloppily and don’t even go to the floor, I’m assuming molding was supposed to be put in but just never was. It is extremely outdated as well. When we went for lunch yesterday I got a Rueben and my husband got a burger, both with fries that were so obviously raw I’m kinda shocked the server felt comfortable bringing them out. My Rueben was somehow raw? My husbands burger was ordered medium but served well done. The most infuriating thing about this place is the pricing is on par with the most elite Pittsburgh restaurants like Spork but with none of the good things. The food is disgusting, the $22 espresso martini was clearly not made with real espresso so why are you charging $22? All the drinks are more expensive than any cocktail bar in the city but taste terrible. $108 for two sandwiches, an appetizer and one drink each. Both of us were so appalled and said we would have had a way better dining experience at eat n park and would’ve paid 1/3 of the bill. They desperately need a facelift or to get real about the quality they serve for the price. Charge Friday’s pricing if that’s the level of quality you are producing. It’s beyond insane to have spent so much money on the most basic food that couldn’t even be bothered to be cooked correctly. A Rueben is a tough...
