We absolutely love the Riverhounds and love going to games to support them! This review has nothing to do with the players and the staff. The stadium however leaves much to be desired. The screen - first of all, it's too small for a stadium that size, and why only one screen? If you were going to go with one screen, at least make it larger than the one that's there. But it doesn't really matter because the image quality is abysmal and the replays are hit or miss to be honest (sometimes they'll play a replay and sometimes they won't). The sound system is in need of a serious upgrade. We've literally sat in seats that gave me a headache - I'm sure would give others a migraine. The bass is so bad you can't even have a conversation with the people sitting right next to you. The bathrooms are small, dark, and dingy. There is a towel dispenser in the bathroom furthest East in the stadium that I've never seen work - the paper towels just sit on the ledge of the trash can and you unwrap to use it, if that makes sense. More seating or pub/cocktail tables to eat food on would be amazing. We've gotten into the habit of eating before going because there's usually nowhere to sit or stand to eat except your lap. There's just so many things that could be done to improve the experience. These things won't make us stop coming to games because we love football (soccer) and we want to support our home team! But upgrading the stadium would make the experience far more enjoyable. :)
Also - Steel Army, literally cannot understand a word you say. I think more people would cheer along with you if we understood what you were...
Read moreI attended a Dirty Heads concert here. The venue was small which I was really excited about because there wouldn't be a bad view anywhere. I struggled between giving 2 and three stars. There was no smoking permitted inside due to the astro turf and at first I thought no big deal. I went up to a security guard and asked if there was anywhere I could go. He told me unfortunately not. I was right by the entry gate so I asked if I could just step outside and come back in when I was finished. He told me that if I went out, there was no re-entry. I have never been to a venue that held this policy, especially for a concert, so I was very surprised about that. I'm sure there are other places that exist that carry the same policy, I just haven't run into it yet. I felt that there should have been some sort of exception for a concert because they are so long and a lot of people smoke. The security did not work for the venue, so they were unable to provide any other options. There was one place to get food and drinks, which for a concert isn't conducive to making money. The show itself was very good and intimate, but all the credit goes to the musicians at that point. I would be very hesitant to attend another concert at Highmark Stadium unless a policy change went into effect. There are places that would be a good area to smoke that were by the restrooms with concrete instead of astro turf. I could see other events being enjoyable there, just not something as lengthy...
Read moreWe recently attended a Riverhounds game at Highmark Stadium and reserved the entire Party Deck for our group. The game and sports atmosphere were fantastic, but unfortunately, the suite experience didn’t match up.
The Club Suites are separated only by a thin curtain, which offered no real privacy. We also expected the attached terrace to be exclusive to our suite, but it was used by people from other suites and even as a smoking area—despite the stadium’s non-smoking policy. Staff couldn’t clarify whether the terrace was exclusive to us, and though there was a chain separating it outside from the rest of the boxes, it didn’t prevent others from using it.
Food-wise, we paid $30 for Bottomless Popcorn that was only filled once, and the bowl was disappointingly small. People using the terrace also kept trying to take our food even though they were from the AHN Box and had better food. Hands off our hot dogs. The chicken tenders portion, advertised for 12 people, was incredibly sparse, amounting to little more than one tender and a fry per person.
Adding to the disappointment, the suite furniture was worn and stained, looking more like what you'd expect in a college apartment. Pitifully disgusting.
Overall, we were let down by the suite experience. While the game was great, I wouldn’t recommend the Party Deck for those looking for a private or quality experience at...
