My husband and I went on Father's Day for brunch. When we got there we were told 40 minute to 1 hour wait. We decided we were okay with that and the host took our name and phone number to text when our table was ready and we walked around to fill time. Eventually we came back and stood outside the restaurant, thinking our table should be ready soon. We watched several groups of people leave over time and the host could see us outside.

Altogether we actually waited for an hour and a half (we stuck with it in part because we kept thinking how much longer could it possibly be). Finally the host pokes his head outside, confused, and asks if we had received our text and that it was sent 40 minutes ago. When we looked at the proof he showed of having sent the text, I had to point out that he had not copied my phone number correctly. That's an honest mistake but we were confused why he waited so long before checking on us. Literally there was a group that came after us that was also waiting outside and he popped out multiple times to check on them.

But finally we were seated and the fun could begin.

The complimentary water was basically room temperature but the bartender did not skimp with the mimosas. There's a lot of quirky decor to look at while you're waiting. There's only one restroom, so there was a carousel of people waiting by the door the whole time we were there.

I tried to ask for some ranch dressing to go with my side salad but our server claimed they do not have ranch dressing. I thought this was very weird because, firstly, what "American cuisine" restaurant doesn't offer ranch but also because they have several dishes that come with spicy ranch and it's assumedly housemade. I ended up not needing extra dressing anyway because I realized the vinaigrette was just pooled in one spot in the middle of my salad under the greens.

The food was great and was the saving grace of our experience. I had the chicken havarti sandwich, my husband had the pulled pork waffle plate with added eggs and bacon and we shared the elote corn bites. It's questionable about what is fresh made onsite versus from frozen (namely the french fries) but the good eats are outrageously good eats. The roasted chicken was incredible and my husband grinned though his entire plate. The elote corn bites didn't scream elote for me but they were still tasty.

The prices of the meals were reasonable but $4 for some of the additions is a little questionable (I'm lookin' at you, super thin bacon and fruit cups).

Despite the negatives, we would happily eat at...

So hate to put a bad review because I absolutely fell in love with this place ive been there multiple times to dine in love it great service great food I usually get the same thing for the most part chicken waffles and fries dipping sauce and chai tea my fav. My daughter tries something different sometimes. Ive brought multiple people there with me when Ive frequented The Nook. But today Saturday September 13 2025 im not happy we ordered around 2 my daughter and I for a Uber eats we received our food close to 3 ish I knew when we ordered it may come a little later one reason why I would rather sit in person so I dont have to warm it back up but that wasnt the bad part.

When we got the food there was no syrup okay fine Ill use my own but the chicken on the waffles was over cooked I received potatoes instead of fries I can deal with that too but not what I asked for. My daughters sandwich was mushy. We ask for sides of sauce extra because my daughter had ordered extra fries and we wanted sauce for my food as well we got one container of 2 different sauces between us i guess to share it was not enough. It looked like some of the food was sitting for a while and then cook re cooked. We didnt order Chai tea because we were afraid it would not come this because last time it never came to the house. No...

Super disappointing; we will not be back. We came to Pittsburgh back in Febuary and heard rave reviews about this place and couldn't even get seated, so we were insanely excited to get seated today. I ordered the "Uneggspected" with over-medium eggs. It took 30 minutes for our food to come, then it came out as one single over-easy egg on a beef patty on a bun. I started laughing because I thought it was a joke. After it was clear there was nothing else I asked the waitress about getting the sauce that was supposed to come with it. She tells me they don't have any. Okay, well that should have been communicated to me before my food was brought out. I asked her what other sauces they have and she had to go check. She brought out some gross honey sauce and walks away. No comment about how long the food took, that my order is incorrect, missing food, that my egg is cooked wrong. Literally one runny egg on a burger patty. I would have been embarrassed to hand this meal to someone. She didn't offer to make me a different meal or discount our bill. If you don't have the ingredients to fulfill an order, it should be told to the customer before it's served. Not served with no comment and charged at full price. We will not be back, and we will make sure our friends and family do...

Let me start with the food tasted great and there are many different options to choose from including vegan, sweet and savory dishes etc. We were disappointed overall with the wait times. When we arrived they told us it would be a 30 minute wait. About 20 minutes later we saw about 5 tables free up but nobody take them. We asked and were told that it was not yet our turn and were showed a list of about 6 groups in front despite nobody being seated at the empty tables and nobody waiting nearby. They also even said to us how some people like to “sit around after” so they couldn’t give an exact time; as if they have no regard for moving customers in and out in a timely manner. They don’t include the outside seating in these numbers so fortunately when we asked if we could be seated outside we were able to without continuing waiting. Although we were not offered this. We were also disappointed to find the poached eggs on our eggs Benedict were all fully cooked, with no running yolk as a poached egg should have. Other than that we all loved our dishes, we were served rather quickly, and prices were as expected.

Very nice spot with a quirky vibe in the heart of Lawrenceville. The food is quite good. The spot itself is somewhat crowded. Definitely fills up quickly and the tables are close together but you can still have a good conversation. 10 minute wait when we came. I got to try the breakfast sandwich with fries and lemonade. My friend had a burger and said it was good. The lemonade was great. Pretty refreshing and came in a solid portion but was a bit on the expensive side. They also serve the real sugar coca cola which is cool. The breakfast sandwich was awesome. It had a hint of sweetness from something like honey. Bacon was tasty too. The eggs I asked to be scrambled instead of fried, and they did that perfectly. Even bread was pretty solid. Well seasoned fries, good portion. Would definitely recommend. All in all, I think it’s a great spot that is popular for a reason. Atmosphere is crowded and it seems like the employees are a bit discombobulated sometimes, but the food is great.
