Simply the best Fried Chicken and Fish you can get within the Ann Arbor-Ypsilanti Area. Forget BW3, KFC, and any others. You cannot beat the quality and taste.
This little gem is hard to miss. Located near the corner of Golfside and Washtenaw, it's located in the strip of shops where the Cottage Inn used to be. That said, the interior isn't anything fancy, 4 tables and the Kitchen in back. However, this is honest, good food. You cannot beat the 30 wings for $25 deal which includes wings (of course), Fries, Cole Slaw, and a Large Kool Aid. The Lunch Specials for around $7 each are a great deal if you're in the mood for Fish, Chicken, or Shrimp also including a drink. I've been to this location three other times before and each time has fulfilled my hunger.
The reason the food is delicious is because all the food is cooked to order. Nothing is ever sitting out under a bake light nothing is warmed up in an oven. I saw the cook put chicken into a basket, season and bread the wings, than throw it into the fryer. What came out was freshly fried, delicious wings with a well salted, seasoned wings with a hint of citrus (I think lemon pepper, but not entirely sure).
Now the wings may be the highlight, but I cannot fail to mention how delicious the fries are as well. Normally, when I eat chicken the fries are an afterthought, but these fries are on par with the chicken. You will not be disappointed.
If you're on Washtenaw and want something delicious and fresh, I recommend coming here. I've mostly come during the weekday in the afternoon, but I've heard that the line can go out the door during some times.
Also, you need to try the Honey Garlic sauce. This transcends the chicken and fries to another level. Which, seems to follow a trend with this shop, Simple yet delicious flavors.
You can go to Cuppy's, L Georges, or Roy's Diner, but Ann Arbor Fish and Chicken has joined that list of some of the best...

But in this case, we are talking the real deal - crispy juicy and tender fried chicken - stands at par with any of its competition.
First, dont let the look of the restaurant throw you off - it looks like a small and not very appetizing restaurant but boy oh boy.
We had fried chicken with chips and white fish with chips.
The chicken:
Super tender, the marination was awesome and the fries were WOW. Unlike KFC where the chicken gets super oily and you feel super full, here, it was juicy, crispy yet tender and yum!!
The fish:
Upon the owners suggestion I ordered the white fish and chips and I was so glad. It was so tasteful, had a very addictive flavoring that made me want to eat more 😂.
The chips were so crispy, flavorful yet not burnt or too stiff.
For dessert we got the carrot cake and oh my… the carrot cake is like a semi sweet dessert with a distinct taste of carrots and cinnamon. Yes I have had carrot cake where you can only taste the sweetness but here you could make out the cinnamon, nutmeg, carrot, frosting…
We were sooo glad we stumbled on this gem!!
The owner is a super friendly and hardworking individual who really cares what his customers think -and I am sure his...
Read moreIf u like fried chicken or fish...this is without a doubt the best in the area. This is pretty much a one man show so be prepared to wait if u go during peak times...call ahead if ur in a hurry. Everything is cooked to order and the glassy crisp on the chicken is literally perfect with the meat nice and juicy inside. There are plenty of side sauces and lemon pepper if u want extra flavor. The potato wedges are also pretty killer. If u find that there's a wait...just shoot the breeze with the owner, he's probably the nicest guy you'll talk to that day. Ill definitely be back. Whoever has hyped up mary's on packard or ma lous in ypsi...please, shut ur face. The korean guy on plymouth at soul is good but hes such an ahole and way over priced and sooo incredibly inconvenient. AA fish and chicken is the real deal and my go to when im craving...
