The food was great!
I'm not sure about the reviews saying that it was a lot for the cost though. 17$ for a shawarma plate that came with two sides; the meat was covering the lentils, which seemed like less meat than you would have expected at that price point and that the lentils were meant to bolster the appearance of that.
Aside from that, I'm really not happy that my food was served in Styrofoam at that price either. This isn't a Detroit Coney Island. After finishing my food, I noticed where the hot food had melted the polystyrene, which undoubtedly leached into my food. For this reason alone I would never order a plate there again, until they chose take out containers that are more healthy conscious. Especially for 17$, and especially when I declared that I was dining in.
Finally, music was turned on really loud, to the point where having conversation - an a important conversation which was the reason for my dining there to begin with - was not possible. After asking if it could be turned down, it was turned off. Then it was turned back on, loudly, multiple times periodically, for a minute or two, before being turned off again. As if this was some sort of passive aggressive assertion that I am unwelcome.
Edit; intentionally misspelling my name while responding is childish.
Pita pita has better portions at a better price point. Their shawarma is 5.99.
My friend and I were there for an hour. In an otherwise nearly empty restaurant. If you had any sense of customer service, you would have appreciated that. As well as the 20% tip for placing the already paid for food, whom the cook already boxed, into a bag.
Way to make it go from a 2 star to a 1 star (as well as the 5 I gave for food) and to ensure I never eat there again and encourage anyone I know to enjoy pita pita instead. Really, smart okay from a business owner. This reactive attitude on a public forum definitely assured me that you weren't being passive aggressive after I requested the volume...
Read moreTonight was my first time at Haifa Falafel. It used to be my husbands go to place until we met and I insisted Dearborn Kitchen and Palm Palace were the best, then Covid came, and we basically stopped ordering out. Tonight, after I said I’d like to go to Palm Palace, but the last couple of times we went, we hardly touched the food and ended up throwing it out(once is a fluke, twice is unacceptable, three times, shame on me for going) he suggested Haifa Falafel. I called ahead to order(which was nice that it’s not just by app) Not only was it ready when I arrived for pick up(I live across the street)the owner was VERY nice, greeted me with a smile, the food was still warm when I got it home. There were plenty of sauces and extra pita. My Husband ordered the Lamb Kafta, I ordered the Shawafel, and we also bought a small side of falafel, garlic sauce and baklava. These were hands down, the largest and most delicious wraps I have EVER had, and I drive all over the state for a living and have tried many! We didn’t get the Mega Wraps, just the normal size! The spice was perfect on the meat, it was packed with veggies, and the sauce was divine! The grill he does at the end to seal the sandwich makes it so much easier to eat, as well. The side of garlic was nice and big and filled to the top(unlike Palm Palace, anymore) neither of us could get through the first half of the sandwich, but am already looking forward to lunch tomorrow. I call BS on the negative reviews. Food was wonderful, atmosphere and employee were great and because of one of the negative reviews, I did take a good look around and everything was very clean! I am now bummed over the time and money I wasted all these years at Palm Palace, and now I will never go back! Thank you SO much for a wonderful dinner! I cannot say enough good things! Forget...
Read moreWhoa! This place is amazing! Great food, great portions, great spices and great prices. I stopped here for lunch today per a recommendation. Growing up in the A2 area I never even heard of this little place before and I can't believe it! I had the Mega Falafel Sandwich and that was it, this is definitely a two meal sandwich and maybe even four depending on your appetite! I love big food and this thing was huge for sure.
The inside of the establishment was clean and well maintained. There was just a single chef working so our order took a little time. As he caught up all the orders in front of us he have is a sample of Falafel to munch on and then began our order. He handed us a bag with our food when it was finished and we sat in the restaurant and began to indulge. My eyes lit up with the first bite I took and I continued to smash the first half until I was defeated and my hunger was satisfied. While I was waiting for the person with me to finish, the chef asked us how the food was and we told him "This is amazing, A+!". We then left and the chef said good bye as we walked out and our delicious adventure ended with fond memories of super delicious mediterranean food.
I would/will highly recommend this place and I will be back next time I am in the area for sure. This place is...
