I ate here in December and want to give a huge shoutout to our server Ky'on for an AMAZING experience! I had surgery at the end of November to remove cancer so I was on strict bedrest for 4 weeks and couldn't leave the house. After finding out the surgery was successful, my mom and her best friend took me to Ichiban to celebrate.
Our half of the table included a father & son, the 3 of us, and a group of 4. Ky'on started by asking us if anyone was celebrating anything special (there were a lot of birthdays around us) the father & son duo was spending some quality time together without mom and sisters, I was celebrating being cancer-free and the 4 top was celebrating a graduation from nursing school. Ky'on acted like we all had something equally exciting to celebrate and showed genuine enthusiasm for all of us, it was really sweet.
He took all 9 drink orders without writing them down, he repeated every drink back to every person... and then later did exactly the same thing with our food orders. Every single person from soup and salad to appetizers, to entrees - he repeated every order back to each of us correctly and still did not write a single thing down. Everything was 100% right for the entire table. It was very, very impressive.
He was attentive without hovering, extremely accommodating and so warm & friendly. He couldn't have known but I was in A LOT of pain. It was my first time out of the house and my first time sitting upright for a long time. I was hurting and uncomfortable but I was distracted by what a nice time we were having. Having such a positive experience like that after weeks and weeks of pain & suffering, and feeling so taken care of by a stranger, it did so much for my mental health. Sometimes you're in the right place at the right time. And sometimes a server is more than a server. Ky'on - you were wonderful. Thank you so SO much for taking such amazing care of us, we will absolutely be back to see you! (Please tip your...
Read moreToday I was reminded why I donât come here anymore. When I asked if I could have shrimp put in my fried rice, I was told that they donât do this. I then rephrased and said well I know they do chicken fried rice I was just wondering if I could get shrimp instead. The waiter replied that theyâve never done chicken fried rice because this is a Japanese restaurant. For my main entrĂŠe, I ordered the scallop hibachi lunch, and then asked if I could have extra garlic butter on the side to put on top of my food. When my food arrived, I noticed that there was a brown sauce all over everything. I inquired if this was teriyaki sauce, to which he replied yes. I asked if I could have it remade without the sauce. Thatâs why I ordered the garlic butter. He asked if I had an allergy and I said that I am gluten free. This is what confuses me underneath the hibachi section thereâs a section labeled teriyaki I didnât ask for teriyaki, so why was my food covered in teriyaki sauce? Well, the main entrĂŠe arrived for the second time I noticed that there was a brown sauce over everything. I asked what it was and he replied that itâs gluten-free soy sauce. At this point I was frustrated because I had asked for no sauce and he stated that he had discussed that with the cooks. I ended up keeping the food because I didnât want to send it back again. The food was so salty. Once I finish, I waited patiently for the waiter to bring me the bill, when he did, he stated that he had taken off the main entrĂŠe. I appreciate that. I did however, enjoy the miso soup, salad, and the California roll. I think that it should be listed on the menu that the hibachi comes drenched in teriyaki or soy sauce, so that a preference...
Read moreIn 44 years I've never paid for cold food fresh off the grill.. Was absolutely freezing in there(coming from a man that keeps his thermostat at 68° in my home)at the grill. My first time ever taking my family over 7 with a 2 month old there. I expressed to the waitress how cold it was and she said it will warm up when the grill starts. The table, chairs, plates, even our pants were cold. I then again expressed to the manager(the blonde lady)how cold it was in there and that there is a freezing breeze blowing on us and my infant. She says it'll warm up when the grill starts...hour later still cold still freezing. So the food gets colder waiting for the rest to finish on the grill, still cold still not warmed up, still waiting on the heat wave they speak of in this place. Very unsatisfied, not only did I feel like I was ripped off for some cold food, I was disregarded and treated as a brush off, like I'm bothering the manager to spend over $200 on cold food with horrible concern or hospitality. Needless to say my first, last, and only time will I ever go to this place. I went for a nice time with my family, and ended up feeling scammed, and disregarded. We would have been better off going to a buffet,, at least your food is warm...Did I mention we drove 45 mins there for a family meal. As a General Manager myself, never would I treat a customer the way my family and I were treated. If you want cold food, a cold atmosphere, and a cold treatment by staff/management then this is your place to go. Ps. Always treat your customers with respect and act as if it were you being waiting on and sharing their family's time and money at your...
