SCRAP Creative Reuse — Local services in Pittsfield Charter Township

This store is a budget crafter's paradise. They have tons of supplies that you would normally only be able to buy in bulk, like buttons, fabric swatches, string, stickers, paper, (and more) and a treasure trove of jewelry sold by the ounce. I got all the things in the photo for less than $2 total. So cheap! It doesn't even seem fair. But I'll be donating some of my own jewelry back, so it evens out 😁 (Note, it can be hard to find earrings with pairs, but that's fine by me cuz I can use them as necklaces or for making hair clips or wear them asymmetrically!) They also have larger items like glue guns, trophies, baskets, bottles, and a bunch of other random things. My friend bought a lap harp last time we were there. It's such an adventure. And it's really nice to know that there is a place where I can take my random "junk" that I decide I don't have a purpose for so that it won't go to waste. I love this store and all of the recycled products they sell. However, the reason I'm leaving a 2 star review is because of the staff. I'm not sure if it's because I'm a minority or not, but the staff definitely treats me differently than other customers. I am almost never greeted at the door (only one woman greets me), while customers that follow me are greeted with hello's and smiles. I am not offered any assistance or told of any new products/sales like other customers. When I go to checkout, I am usually ignored until I say something (again, one woman is an exception). I do not feel welcome at this store. I continue to shop here because I cannot find certain products anywhere else, but if a similar shop opened I would take my business elsewhere. I am a cashier, and I would never treat my customers like this. I treat all customers the same, with a bright smile and a hello. The staff at this store could definitely work on their customer...

I'm not sure I can say anything that hasn't been said already, but I love Scrap! I've been going here for years (and previously to the old location, but the new one was much more convenient during my college years, so thank you), and have never had a bad experience. The total at checkout is always less than you expect, and you're supporting a phenomenal cause! A few tips to enhance your shopping experience:

1. Budget WAY more time than you'd think, you can browse for hours in here
2. Bring your own bags or containers to sort through and gather your items. Lots of things are kept in large barrels, and this makes it a lot easier to sort to the bottom
