Unfortunately, the original “Samel’s Deli” I grew up with 50 years ago is only a shadow of its former specialness. The long cases of kosher and non-kosher deli selections are gone. Covid brought an end to sit down dining in the deli. Samel’s now focuses on takeout and catering. Not a total loss though…
On my visit yesterday the staff was friendly and attentive (Server: E. Rocco). I ordered a hot pastrami on rye bread, with cole slaw and a dill pickle. The food was WONDERFUL! The sandwich was stuffed with a generous portion of well trimmed pastrami (not fatty), along with tasty cheese and creamy sauce on fresh toasted rye bread. Even the cole slaw was excellent (I could have eaten 3 of them).
ALL THINGS CONSIDERED, this was the EXCELLENT Samel’s Deli food I reminisce about from my childhood. Only the deli setup has regrettably changed. Would I go back again? ABSOLUTELY, every week if I lived in the area…

Read moreWe hired Savory Harvest/Samel’s Deli & Catering for our wedding on 10/15/22 in Lenox, MA and we couldn't have been happier with our choice. Joan and her team were the backbone of our entire process. From planning, to support, to execution, Savory Harvest did EXACTLY what they said they were going to do, and did it to perfection. From early on in the planning process, Savory Harvest worked with us to get a beautiful meal in line with our budget. The appetizers, first & second course were incredible, many guests complimented us on our food the entire weekend. We also hired Savory Harvest to be our 'day of' coordinator which was the best decision we made in this process. I urge you to reach out to Joan and see what they can do for you, because without Savory Harvest, our day wouldn't have been nearly as great as it was. Thank you again, Jim & Katie Bonyman Seven Hills Inn,...

When you walk in, it was slightly obvious that people were at the counter ordering at the register, but the walls just had the French cleats, which would normally hold the missing menu boards. So signs inside... coolers of beverages with no notes... multiple pallets of drinks in the dining room... almost all the tables needed to be cleaned to the point where some customers grabbed towels and spay to clean their own tables. The current menus were just black and white photocopies at the register.
As good as the great as the food was, the rest needs...
