The Common — Attraction in Pittsfield

Recently upgraded city park with vwry well is welk used splash park and playground for kids

Beware of the neighbors that abut the park, let their dogs off leash to do their business and never clean up, the littering of nip bottles and hypodermic drug abuser needles in places.. Along with the homeless that take up residence at the mini amphitheater. City sends full crews to clean it everyday in summer because we know that people there cannot find one of the 5 comveniently placed trashcans. Throwing stuff on the ground is easier.

Several decemt restaurants very close as well as a Cumberland Farms gas/convenience store. Very close to the main drag.

Parks are open to all. You cannotvstop folks. A few well placed signs with arrows and instructions how to use a garbage can, a sharps disposal unit and aome poopy bag dispensers...

Relatively new playground, nice big field AND spray park that kids love to run around in, plenty of benches for parents/babysitters :)

Only withheld a star because I parked in the big 3-hour lot across the street. At least it was free for a good chunk of time! ... But might be a bit far to walk if you have elderly/disabled and your ultimate destination is the playground, which is all the way on the opposite end of that big grassy field.

Plan on coming back. When I do, I can hopefully comment more on parking (will try to find closer) and bathrooms (don't know if there are any, and in what condition - didn't need any while there. There is a nearby Dunkin' Donuts, a Burger King, and a pub, however, and the first two also have their...

The Common is a great place to check out. There is a mowed area for playing games, relaxing, picnicking, etc. There is also a basketball court for the athletic folks. For children, there is a splash pad in the summer, and playground equipment. Across the street, you can get ice cream and King Kone, and bring it to The Common to eat. A railroad track runs parallel to the park, which can be seen as a pro and a con. It is cool to be able to see a train go by that close to you, especially for children who like locomotives. On the other hand, it can be quite noisy if you are looking to relax...
