Soda Chef — Restaurant in Pittsfield

If you want a truly satisfying home cooked breakfast go to the Soda Chef on North Street in Pittsfield. It may not look like much from the outside, but this is an authentically retro old school diner with bar stools at the counter and also a few tables available for sitting at. All of the food is freshly prepared to order by George. The eggs were amazingly fresh and so tasty! Their home fries can be made with or without onions, as you prefer, and I opted for the onions. These were definitely the BEST home fries I've ever eaten at a restaurant. I also ordered bacon, which they cooked to order. Asking if I wanted it soft, medium, crispy or extra crispy. My husband had the sausage which was also delicious. Patty waited on us and she was so nice and really attentive to us. Never going back here, back in the day this was the spot, today was HORRIBLE not only did we wait almost 2 hrs for food, the waitress kept goin in and out 2 smoke, they served people that came in way after us because the are "regulars". Got simple orders the French toast ays Texas it was regular bread and was mushy as hell. Just very bad service and overall a bad time of your not a regular. You will be left sitting until they serve everyone of the regulars then tell us they don't have what we ordered but waited til our food was coming so we didn't have a chance to sub it out, I doubt this review will make a difference but if you are a new customer go...

Dark and dingy . looks like it hasn't been remodeled in over 30 years. Booths are torn and ripped. Took 20 mins to cook simple ham and cheese omelet tastes like they used Kraft wrapped American cheese. I received my bill long before I got my meal. Not very professional. Places smelled bad too. Amazingly I received my check long before I had my food, made me feel rushed but again I was still waiting for my food. I could understand if it were busy, but including myself there were only three customers there at the time. I would not tell others to eat...
