Really great hotel. Just slightly off; and slightly is an overstatement. ||I'll say the things I didn't love first. No USB next to the bed; not a huge problem, I brought a USB plug so it worked out. There are outlets on each side of the bed near the lamps, but no USB. Again, not the end of the world, but it would have been nice. There was no breakfast. Nothing. We've stayed in many boutique hotels before and we like the baskets outside the door with a roll, some yogurt, and maybe an orange or something. There was a bakery a block or two away, but it would have been nice to be able to not have to leave the hotel (or our room) and take it easy just a bit longer. The in room fireplace could have had a control on it. It was more like an in room flame than an in room fireplace. Again, I know I sound like I'm being over the top - I don't mean to be, I'm just point out that if you are hoping there are fake logs and white flames dancing about, its not it. Another kind of bad thing, the windows. They let a TON of light it. Its awesome during the day, and even as the sun starts to go down. You know when its not awesome? 7AM. The blinds allowed enough light all around them and the curtains are nice, but nowhere near room darkening. And another silly issue, no corkscrew. We asked the front desk if they had one and they said that someone didn't return it and we should as the restaurant. ||The only other issue...and this isn't the Hotel's fault...the town itself. We had never been to the Berkshires. We wanted to try go someplace where we could walk around to shops and restaurants and then walk back to our rooms at the end of the day. Pittsfield is kind of run down. There were a couple of great stores, but two good stores and a good hotel don't really sell the town. There were homeless folks sleeping on benches and in doorways of local businesses. The town didn't really give a safe at night vibe. ||I gave the hotel 4 out of 5 stars. I still stand by it. Here are the things that were great with the place: The room was amazing. Huge. The ceilings were at least 12' tall. The creak of the hardwood floors in the room was great. The fireplace was cozy. There were two chairs in the room; one night while listening to music we relaxed and planned our day. The chairs were so comfortable. The bed was a massive king and sleep came so easy. The bathroom was huge and full of light. It had a clawfoot tub and a large shower. The Hotel had a store attached to it; it was a nice store with nice merchandise. Parking was easy, the lot behind the hotel had ample space. The hotel itself was very clean. Everyone was polite and helpful. The hotel was truly a great hotel. The room was so comfortable. ||If that hotel existed in other towns across the world, I'd book it with...

Ā Ā Ā Read moreLooking forward to a nice weekend away? Do NOT stay here! The site and reviews seemed promising. We planned on seeing a show at the Colonial on a Friday and decided to make a weekend out of it. What a mistake! Horrible waste of time and money. We booked a suite. It was āfineā. Dark and uninspired. But we hoped to make the best of it, looking forward to a quiet Saturday making the most of it with a leisurely stay, with plans for breakfast in bed, and even enjoying the inviting seating area outside our room- that had a lovely assortment of fun board-games we looked forward to trying. The real fun began Saturday morning at 10am when the commotion started two feet from our door- turns out they booked out the entire area directly outside of our room for a wedding reception without telling us. At 10am it began. Loud banging, furniture scraping across the floor, people loudly talking & yelling, and then the dj started up at 2pm! We spoke to the front desk early on, who apologized profusely, admitted that this was a big screwup, but assured us that the event would only go on from 5-6:30. They lied. It began at 4pm. Which was already before the two full hours of the dj āwarming upā. They offered us a coupon for 10% off a meal in the hotelās restaurant. Not good enough. A quiet weekend away is ruined when you waste money on a suite that you canāt even bear to be in. We tried to talk to them politely, explaining how disappointing the experience was, and how frustrated we were. It was so loud that we had to leave for a few hours, having to awkwardly wind our way through masses of wedding guests. We left to mindlessly drive around the area just to escape the awful noise and feeling of intrusion. Before we left to escape we again tried to talk to someone- I even left my cellphone number asking for management to please call me as soon as possible. We were gone for 2 1/2 hours. When we came back the nice lady at reception apologized again, said she gave our message to Jeff at management, and asked if we had heard from him. We had not. She looked embarrassed and confused- explaining that he had shortly ago left for the night. With no contact with us. We were angry and frustrated; and let her know. What a surprise! An hour later at 7:30pm Jeff decided to finally grace us a with a call. He got my voicemail because we were leaving for dinner. An unapologetic and apathetic message was left by Jeff. The worst hotel experience Iāve had in ages. If I wanted to be a part of a wedding reception I wouldāve attended. I didnāt. Bonus! Our room wasnāt attended to till after 7pm because housekeeping couldnāt get through- at that point we were getting ready and couldnāt just leave the room. We were so exasperated by everything that we left early on Sunday and never heard a word...
