The ice cream is great at this shop! Here are several reasons why this place definitely tops my favorite ice cream list as #1.
The ice cream texture is thick, rich, and creamy, and not watery like fast food ice cream. Yet it's not so thick that you feel disgusted. As a measure of comparison, it took some effort to push my spoon into the ice cream when I tried to split it with a friend. With fast food ice cream, it takes no effort at all to plunge a spoon into the bottom of the cup. Even before eating, I could tell that this ice cream is genuinely produced with attention and care.
On a scale from 1-10, I'd rate the amount of ice cream given as a 10. My small sized ice cream came with 3 LARGE scoops for less than $5.
The taste is superb. It is definitely not too sugary. I'd say the actual flavor of ice cream really comes through when it's not dominated by the taste of sugar. You can really appreciate and savor Rich Farm ice cream for its flavor.
There is a wide variety of toppings to choose for your ice cream.
Service quality was great- staff was polite, careful, and efficient.
The facility is clean and well air-conditioned. There is ample space. One thing to note is that more ice cream flavors are available along the side of the counter- when you enter the store, there is a clearly visible place displaying flavors, but perpendicular to that section there are more.
Finally, on the financial end, given the high quality of the ice cream and shop, you can really get your...
Read moreThe ice cream was creamy. The fudge topping is REALLY GOOD. And it's a pretty good deal considering how expensive other ice cream shops usually are for such a little cup. Try the waffle come, it's huge! think my friend and I ordered kids sizes and they felt like a regular size. There is only one location in CA, so it can be a drive, they sell pints and pies for you to take home, and they have special flavors which are really creative (sharkbait had swedish fish in it). Also sample the flavors before you buy! For me, what was a bummer, is that I expected the ice cream to have really rich flavors, but the ice creams sounded better than they tasted, I didn't really taste the flavors. Maybe that's a good thing, as in they don't have a lot of sugar, but I sampled "Superman" flavor, peaches and cream, German brownie, and I really couldn't taste much. The flavors seemed more like a "hint" of what their description was (check their website for flavor descriptions). My friend was surprised when I said I couldn't taste the flavors so maybe it was just my taste buds acting up that day. I would return, preferably if I was already in the area. Also, the shop is kind of tucked away in what looks like a small little parking lot/business area, it's a little...
Read moreThe ice cream is made on site with the highest quality ingredients. One flavor deserves special mention: peanut butter brittle.
The dairy man's father-in-law makes the best peanut butter brittle. Once in a while a bag of it appears with the dairy delivery and the dairy man gets a peanut brittle ice cream kickback. What's left over goes for sale and will all sell in a day or two. I've never seen this one on the weekend so I assume deliveries must happen from Monday to Thursday.
If you see this flavor then you must catch this lightning in a bottle and savor it! Now, you may be thinking to yourself... I make a mean batch of peanut brittle and I'll sell it to John, the owner of Rich Farm, so we may all enjoy this ice cream whenever we want. You are likely to fail in this quest because the father-in-law's peanut butter brittle is so good it has favored nation status.
This gets to the heart of why Rich Farm is so good. Once John knows what the best ingredient is he won't settle for less quality even if it comes with lower cost or higher availability. Now you are in the...
