Al's Donuts — Restaurant in Plainfield

We stopped by yesterday morning because we were in the neighborhood, and we were so happy that we did. The moment we walked in, we could smell the sweet aroma of freshly baked donuts. My wife ordered cronuts and glazed donuts and loved both of them. Our dinner ordered the Maple Bacon and Chocolate Chip donuts and enjoyed them as well. First, I ate the Apple Fritter I ordered. The crispy edges followed by a dark brown exterior and soft pillowy interior that was topped with delicious soft baked apples coated in cinnamon was the absolute best tasting Apple Fritter I have have eaten. Second, the Maple Bacon donut was soft and pillowy, and the maple icing was pleasantly sweet, and the bacon added the perfect crunch and smokiness to an absolutely delicious donut. The Chocolate Chip donut was soft and pillowy on the exterior and topped with a rich chocolate ganache and chips, and the rich ganache was throughout the interior of the donut which added a rich chocolate flavor throughout the donut. I also ordered a Red Velvet cake donut. Rich, light, and the right amount of sweetness from the icing. What a great experience, and the owners were so friendly. We can't wait to go back for more donuts and...

Buyer beware! If your not a regular they cheat you. I used to get great service and doughnuts here when I would come in sporadically over the last 5 years but over the last year they have been given me lousy service. Today was the last straw, I ordered a dozen yeast doughnuts and the girl behind the counter charged me $10. The price of a doughnut is 65 cents. A dozen should be $7.80 and with tax @ 7 percent it comes to $8.13. When I asked what a dozen costs she said it was $10 including the tax. Since I had promised my son doughnuts when I got home from my night shift and this was the only place open at the time I paid and left but it will be the last time since they do not apreciate walk in's, only their regulars they...

This place used to be 5stars plus 1 when the old man ran it best doughnut I ever had ..ever!! ..and everyone in Plainfield thought so too .!! So busy standing room only..then they sold shop tried it one time with new people running it ...and nope it's not the same..not even close ...the recipes were off .however it's been awhile maybe the called the old dude and asked for the recipes...also the old crowd wasnt there hanging out...I may give it a shot though..one thing they have got to do it is 2018 your losing sales without a debit card scanner..sheesh...
