I really wanted to be able to write a great review, at I've heard such wonderful things about this place. Unfortunately, our experience was extremely disappointing.
I called several hours in advance to inquire if they could accommodate a nut allergy. I was told this would not be a problem, precautions would be taken, and there was information on-sight for me to read and determine which flavors would be safe.
Upon arrival, we spoke to (I'm assuming) the owner, who was flip from the get-go. When we informed her of our daughter's allergy, she immediately stated she could not guarantee anything was safe; the most she would do was use a fresh spoon, to scoop ice cream that's already contaminated. Stating the only ice cream available was what was already out.
After informing her that I had contacted the shop earlier, to ask if this could be accommodated, she begrudgingly (and rudely) stated that she would get some fresh from the freezer. But was very clear that this is not her usual stand, and would not be happening again, in the future.
The one bright spot was a young man working there, who overheard my toddler wanted a cone, but we had been told it was unsafe. He went above and beyond to grab the cone box out for me to view the ingredients and retrieved the fresh ice cream (which they DID have, even though we were told they didn't, previously). I truly appreciated his efforts! He was the only reason we decided to purchase.
Overall the experience left much to be desired. We will not...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy family and I have been to Hazel Marieās a dozen times. The ice cream is overpriced and the staff isnāt very friendly but very cute environment and a lot of flavors. Our last experience was so unpleasant I had to do some thing in hopes that it could get better. My three daughters and I ordered 4 ice cream cones. And when you place your order you pay and then sit down or stand if thereās no seats and wait for them to let you know your order is ready. When the order was ready I walked up the to counter to get the 4 cones that I couldnāt carry on my own and wanted my kids to stay seated so that we wouldnāt lose our seats. it was not busy and they couldnāt even help just deliver the four overpriced cones the 10 ft to the table. Then our order was wrong and I went back up to let them know no one said sorry or anything. The only thing they said was āwell we canāt take that one back so just keep itā. Then my 10-year-old needed a spoon. She waited in line and when it was her turn up at the counter no one asked her if she needed anything no one acknowledged her. When I noticed this I had to get up once again to ask the staff for a spoon for her. Just donāt think this place is very Friendly. They clearly donāt need to be if weāre still paying the prices they charge for the mediocre ice cream. Kind of felt like they donāt appreciate all the customers because they have so many theyāre not really...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreHazel Marie's in Plainfield, IL is a delightful gem right in the heart of Downtown. This old-fashioned ice cream parlor offers a nostalgic atmosphere and a wide variety of delicious flavors to choose from. Whether youāre in the mood for a classic vanilla or something more adventurous, like my favorite - Fat Elvis, Hazel Marie's has you covered.
What makes Hazel Marie's stand out even more is that they are pet-friendly. They offer a special "pup-cup" of ice cream topped with a dog treat, which my furry friend absolutely loved. Itās wonderful to see a place that not only caters to humans but also offer a little something for our pets. The outside patio is also equipped with a water dish, ensuring your pet stays hydrated and happy while you enjoy your ice cream.
Overall, Hazel Marie's provides a great experience with its charming ambiance, diverse ice cream selection, and thoughtful pet-friendly touches. Itās a perfect spot for both ice cream lovers and pet owners alike. Highly recommend stopping by for a...
