I wanted to love Milettes. I had heard so many great things about the Cakes I decided to give them a try for my daughters first birthday. I called and never got an answer, so I decided to email. I got a response and after some really confusing email exchanges I ordered an egg free smash cake. The lack of consistency in the emails should have been enough for me to not order but I really wanted a cute cake for my daughter so I went through with it anyways. I was first told an egg free smash cake for my daughter would be $20. Then when I decided not to get the big cake it increased to $25. Fine, what’s $5 in the long run. I also ordered a fondant cheetah with leaves for $28, bringing my total to $53. I paid the $20 deposit and ordered my cake. This was in mid May. Fast forward to the week of my daughters birthday, July 4. I get an email from Milettes stating they’ll use buttercream frosting (which was already finalized in May) and that the cake price would be $78 for the cake and $25 for the fondant cheetah. Umm… no. We already finalized the order. I quickly respond with the finalized cake details from May. I then get a call that the person who finalized my order made a mistake and egg free smash cakes are actually usually $45. I tell them no that’s not what I agreed upon. They ask if I’ll compromise at $35. At this point her birthday is in 5 days… so I do it because I don’t have the energy to find a new cake in 4 days. Ok so we pick up the cake for the new price of $35 for the cake and $28 for the Cheetah… the cake looks good. Now for the cake smashing….. 1. The cake is hard as a ROCK. 2. It’s gross. Absolutely no flavor. My daughter won’t eat it, clearly thinks its gross as well because she eats everything. 3. The cake is like 1/16 cake and the rest is frosting. I didn’t pay $35 for a pile of frosting… See picture below of cake cut. Fast forward to July 11… my husband wants to talk to Milettes and figure this out. He calls, no one answers. He goes there. They’re closed, fine, he decides he’ll try again tomorrow. July 12… he calls, multiple times, no one answers. He goes there. Someone is there. He says he’d like to discuss this cake, which he has with him. The guy makes him wait outside the store. After an hour of waiting… he finally gets to talk to someone. The guy says there is nothing wrong with this cake, it’s delicious. He says he will refund the order. Then he backtracks and says oh it taste bad because it’s eggless. But a second ago he said nothing was wrong with it?? So finally he refunds the price of just that cake, minus the Cheetah. Needless to say, I will not be ordering from this place again. Their unprofessionalism alone is enough to not order again, but the fact that the cake was inedible really does this place in. Edited to add: I’ve kept my email conversations with Milettes and was very clear that I only wanted to proceed with the smash cake after receiving the price for the large cake via email. And again to be clear this was all reconfirmed on the phone when I paid the deposit so to attempt to somehow blame me for your lack of professionalism is a joke. Your response just further demonstrates why I will not recommend your bakery.

I was looking for a cake for my granddaughters golden birthday for her party 11/9. I had seen Milettes going through downtown Plainfield so thought I'd check them out. Their cakes looked amazing and the reviews looked good. I went to their website and did an online chat. I was looking for a Kpop Demon Hunters theme. I discussed the theme and sent some photos. I didn't order right then but said I would stop by since I wanted to purchase some cupcakes to taste. My daughter ended up going in and ordering the cake. She said they had no idea what she was talking about regarding my previous communication so she discussed what she wanted. A 2 tier ombre pink & purple cake with the top tier chocolate and the bottom tier funfetti with gold accents. My daughter went to pick up the cake before the party and it was not what she expected at all. They seemed very disorganized and took a long time to get the cake. My daughter is very nonconfrontational so she took it home. When I saw the cake I was very disappointed. It was not up to the caliber of there website and definitely not a $200 cake. It was not ombre, did not have all gold accents, and the tiers were swapped. The top was funfetti and the bottom chocolate. Then to top it off she gets a call saying they forgot to give her the topper! They did say they were going to Uber it over. It never came, we call back and they say it was delivered. So during the party in the rain my daughter goes looking up and down the block for the package. They delivered it to the wrong house! We put it on but it would not go through the base of the top cake so it was sticking out. My daughter said either the owner or manager did stop by later and apologize, which I appreciate, I was not there at the time, and offered to give her some free cupcakes next time but I don't feel thats sufficient. I don't expect a free cake but some sort of refund would of been better. The cake itself was very good, but not worth $200 for all the trouble. We are a very large family and order multiple cakes a year. As much as I liked the cake their subpar service would stop me from ordering from them again.

High expectations crumbled, just like the cake’s filling when we cut into it… I contacted the bakery to have a custom 1 tier horse cake made for a milestone birthday. All I’ve ever wanted is a custom baked cake made of fondant. I initially submitted my detailed order request online which I was able to input the type of frosting preference: fondant, the type of cake filling: marbled, etc. Vanessa from Milette’s contacted me to go over everything. I specifically remember saying NO buttercream frosting. I can’t stand it. As well as marbled (a blend of light & dark swirled cake mix.) When my husband brought the cake home, we were all so excited to open it and share it as a family. Upon opening it, I immediately noticed the majority of the grayish frosting that covered the cake was indeed buttercream, which we cannot stand because of its overly sweet texture. And it’s not what we paid for. But keep in mind fondant is usually more costly than buttercream. Also the cake mix was obviously vanilla with fudge filling (which is the filling I did ask for) but not marbled. To top it off, when we cut into the cake the whole thing crumbled and broke apart. This happens when it’s dry or stale. I’ve had Betty Crocker mixes taste better. I was so upset I actually started to cry. $127 down the drain for a cake Jewel could have made better. Never again.

Ordered my wedding cake from here and by the time we were two weeks out from the wedding, we literally had to figure out a plan b for a cake because we were so worried that they wouldn't even show up. We had several phone conversations where it took 3+ times for them to even pull the right file, the girl who answers the phones is completely clueless and never once answered a question on her own but had to put us on hold every single time we asked something (we're talking up to 15 times in one phone call). Most of the time she needed to ask the chef the questions but the chef was NEVER there to actually answer. There were 3 separate times that either me or my husband called with a simple question like needing to confirm the delivery time and she couldn't answer and she had to have the chef call us back, all 3 times we never received a call back and had to follow up ourselves.

The worst part was over the cake sizes. We ordered three separate cakes instead of a traditional tiered wedding cake with the plan to place each cake on a stand. When I called to get the cake sizes so I knew what size stands to order, I was told that they'd be 8, 10, and 14 inches. About a week later, my husband called to ask a question and asked them to confirm that as well. He was told they would be 6, 8, and 12 inches. Since I had already ordered custom stands for the sizes I was originally told, I called them and let them know the issue and the girl who answers the phones said that was no problem and she'd make a note of it on our file. Then she called back and said that they can't make those sizes and I told them no, it needs to be the sizes I was originally told. This led to a two day long back and forth of them blaming us for not ordering the right things, trying to give us a cake that would be 3 inches high, and continuously arguing with us. When I finally actually spoke with Milette, she was even worse and more unprofessional than the other girl.

When the cakes were finally delivered on our wedding day, the person who brought them in was so rude to the florist that they actually complained to me and the event coordinator because they were so appalled by the behavior.

I could go on and on about all of the ways Milette's let us down but I'm sure I'd run out of room before I fit it all in. We should have realized we were making a mistake when they wouldn't even send us a copy of our order form or receipt but hopefully this will at least deter someone else from making the same...
