We were seated right away and our order promptly taken. The fried green tomato appetizer was quick to come as well as the drinks. Drinks and tomato were ok. Our experience went downhill from there. We waited patiently for our main course which after 45 minutes has not been delivered. We waited another 10 minutes but noticed customers who arrived at the same time we did finishing their meals and leaving. We finally caught up with our server to inquire about the delay. She responded that the kitchen was backed up. Within a couple minutes our food arrived…cold. Not sure how it could have been cold if it was allegedly being prepared. We ordered sweet potato fries, red beans & rice, jerk chicken, shrimps etouffe, a mufalata, and crawfish tails. The red beans and rice tasted good and had chunks of ham in them. The crawfish were smaller than bay shrimp and overpowered by the spice and batter. It was more like battered sea monkeys that crawfish. The sauce for the etouffe and jerk chicken was clear and bland. In New Orleans, the sauce is generally red and spicy. The sweet potato fries were seasoned with cinnamon. We didn’t eat more than a few bites of anything but the beans and rice, as it was cold. I was really looking forward to some authentic Cajun food and New Orleans atmosphere but very disappointed. The website advertised music and I could not hear any over the loud talking and it was not blues, jazz, zydeco or any type of New Orleans music. A few strands of Mardi Gras beads scattered around did not make the good times roll for me. $165 down the toilet as we didn’t even want a doggie bag. We didn’t bother telling the server that the food was cold after waiting an hour for it and not knowing how much longer it would take to heat it up or recook the order. I just wrote a note in the receipt letting them know. I’m glad others had better experiences than we did. I don’t think that I have ever written a negative review for a...
Read moreI ordered blackened shrimp poboy with macncheese and got breaded shrimp instead. The sandwich was bread, shredded lettuce, and tomato with sauce on the side. Nothing special. Macncheese was not good at all. Certainly not worth $20. +$4 for Mac.
My buddy got jerk wings. The peanut sauce was supposed to be on the side, per the menu description. Instead, the wings were saturated in it. My buddy wasn't happy about it. I thought they were alright. Better than my poboy.
The order took a long time to come out. Over 30 minutes for the first entree, my buddy's wings. I got my poboy 15 minutes later. The restaurant was dead, maybe 10 people in the whole place. So frying some wings and shrimp that was supposed to be grilled, shouldn't have taken very long. I didn't bother to ask about my shrimp being breaded instead of blackened because I didn't want to wait another 45 minutes to eat.
My buddy said he had been there before, and I needed to try it, but apparently that was a decade ago, and his memory didn't serve him well. Maybe the management or owner changed.. who knows.
The girl was very nice, but not very genuine or attentive. She said the Mac and cheese was amazing, clearly to get it sold.. took my simple order incorrectly and put them in separately, leaving a huge gap between them even though they were ordered together. Also, she kept conversating with another group of people I concluded were personal friends, instead of making sure our order was coming out promptly. I won't be returning or...
