Sure, twilight's nice, but have you ever been seated by Zoel at Nonna's by So Italian? Life-changing!! I arrived foolishly believing I was in the mood for Italian food, but in fact it was the masculine and charming man that I was hungry for. I opened the door for my then girlfriend (now ex), and we were both utterly shell shocked upon setting eyes on the host. He was the total package and it was obvious from the start. With height as tall as Mount Everest and a complexion that is of Pantene face model. I looked at my then girlfriend and could see I wasn't enough anymore. I could barely stand looking away from Hoel that long so I stared deep into his eyes once more. The sparkle and passion within them transcended abundantly. Have you ever been attracted to someone ears to the point of convulsions? I hadn't either until this occasion I was trying to keep my composure when he reached for the menus and I saw his long and thin yet muscular hands grip the menus steadily . As if I wasn't already feeling like less of a man he asked "how many". I had to ask him to repeat it 12 times (not because I couldn't understand but because his voice was so deep and soothing that I got too dreamy to comprehend even such a simple question. He then pivoted to walk us to our table and I got a chance to see his side profile. I must say it took me by surprise. I expected to see atleast one imperfection in this man but no. His perfectly shaped nose somehow added to the beauty we didn't know was possible. Along with this his thick lips and perfectly kept eyebrows petruded just enough to be seen and appreciated by me and the woman that didn't deserve to set eyes on him. My then girlfriend attempted to flirtatiously smile at Zoel but a man with such character he simply said shook his head and said "I've got to return to work". He never returned but I did leave him my number and I believe my then girlfriend Zendaya did as well. I am awaiting a text from him but in the meantime I highly recommend going to see Zoel or as I call him the 8th and 9th wonders...
Read moreAs a truck driver, I've seen my fair share of roadside diners and fast food joints, but Nonna's Italian in Plainfield, IN is a whole different ball game. Let me tell you, this place is a hidden gem that deserves every one of its five stars! First off, parking is a breeze. They have ample space for my rig, which is a blessing after a long haul. No more squeezing into tight spots or worrying about getting towed. I rolled in, parked up, and was ready to feast!
Walking into Nonna's, I was greeted by the warm, inviting aroma of garlic and fresh bread. It felt like I was stepping into Nonna's own kitchen. The decor is charmingly rustic, with checkered tablecloths and vintage Italian posters. It's like a little slice of Italy right here in Indiana.
Now, let's talk food. I started with the garlic knots, which were so good I nearly proposed to the chef. Soft, buttery, and loaded with garlic - they were the perfect start to my meal. Then came the main event: Nonna's famous lasagna. Layers of pasta, rich meat sauce, and gooey cheese, all baked to perfection. I swear, if my truck ran on lasagna, I'd never need to refuel again!
For dessert, I couldn't resist the tiramisu. One bite and I was transported to a cozy café in Rome. Creamy, coffee-infused goodness that made me forget all about the miles I had left to drive.
The staff at Nonna's are top-notch. Friendly, attentive, and they even remembered my name when I came back the next week. It's like being part of the family, minus the awkward holiday dinners.
In conclusion, Nonna's Italian is a truck driver's dream come true. Great parking, amazing food, and a welcoming atmosphere that makes you feel right at home. If you're ever passing through Plainfield, do yourself a favor and stop by Nonna's. Your taste buds will thank you, and your truck might just get jealous!
Five stars all the way! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Safe travels and happy...
Read moreWe ate here a few months ago - I honestly do not know how so many people rate this place so highly. We were excited when we found out about this 'new to us' Italian place - as we love Italian. My Dad got the 'beef' lasagna - very disappointing - for it to be called 'beef' lasagna - the meat was pretty non-existent - it was pretty much noodles and sauce - not much else between the layers. The pepperoni and cheese breadsticks were the only good thing about the meal. My brother had the ham & cheese calzone - which was huge - but pretty much only cheese and no barely any ham he said. I was excited to try the Chicken Marsala - not sure how someone else on here says it's 'to die for' - I almost died, yeah, from one bite - there was so much pepper in this dish, it was like someone had went to season it - and the lid had fell off - you literally could taste nothing but pepper - I do have a slight pepper allergy - but in all my years of having this dish as many other places - have I ever had this issue. The server said that is how they make it there - and asked if he could replace my dish - so I opted for Chicken Alfredo (after asking if they put a bunch of pepper in it) - when it finally did come out - the chicken was pretty non-existent, the sauce was runny - and pretty bland - it tasted almost like one of those sauces from a jar at the supermarket - just no flavor - could have used some garlic or something - just watered down and blah. I also ordered a piece of Tiramisu to go - after waiting about 20 min for that to come out - we left. Later that evening I went to eat the Tiramisu - to find that I had paid $6 for a piece that was smaller than a business card - and pretty flavorless. Overall - experience in taste of food just was not good for this place. Not sure where these other people are eating, that say it's the best italian...
