The family and I were headed into the Plainville area and want to try a new places. We googled places to eat around the AMC area and had a list of locations. We decided to try Lola's out and boy were we happy we did.
This is a nice small little place located in a small plaza. The plaza itself is ok at best. However Lola's was very nice and clean. The AC was on blast which was nice for me however members of the family would get too cold so we ate out on the patio. There isn't much to say about the patio since it was overlooking the parking lot but it was very well maintained.
The staff were a delight, they were super nice and very professional. They made sure we had everything and if we needed anything. They would always come out and check on us. They weren't hovering over us to much but just enough for us to never say "where is our waiter?". Keep in mind the main dining room was half full. It is a small room so I would say maybe 3 to 4 parties were there including us outside.
Now onto the food. We had Buffalo Tenders for starters and complimentary bread and house made dipping sauce. Both amazingly good. For main courses we had Filet Mignon with rice and fries, Baked Lasagna, and Chicken tenders with fries. Nothing too fancy but very good choices. They blew us away, my thought is you really cant screw this order up and they didn't! The meat was tender and seasoned right. Fries are fries and the lasagna was amazing.
This place is a classic, never judge a book by its cover. We didn't and gave it a go. We loved it and will for surely return again.
Like always, read the reviews but always try something out at least once. You never know, you might just find your new...
Read moreThough we've driven by numerous times, the whole family managed to get together (five of us) and enjoy a dinner one Friday night.
First, if you think of it, make a reservation if it is on the weekend. They are that busy and that good.
Second, if you don't they will accommodate you!
Five of us, three teens with large appetites, had meals that got our mouths watering and satiated our hunger. My son, a rather picky eater, got the salmon and devoured it along with the soup - he's a cheeseburger and fries guy. My youngest daughter got the Jake's Salad with chicken and loved the freshness of all the ingredients as well as the unique items such as granny smith apples (something she might not have ever tried in her salad). The oldest daughter got the stuffed shrimp. It was a toss up as to whether she liked that or the mashed potatoes and fresh veggies more!
My husband had the potato gnocchi with fabulous meatballs and yummy sauce. He was happier than I can even write about.
I had the center cut lamb chops. If you're ever hesitant about lamb, you don't need to be here. They cook it perfectly and the cuts melt in your mouth. I sampled everyone's meal and this was my fave (even if it was mine).
The restaurant is BYOB - so my husband and I brought our own wine (and an 18 year old to drive home if necessary). We loved the option of bringing in our favorite wine to pair with the meal.
The chef is spectacular, the restaurant comfortable and clean, the food and service...
Read moreI have been going to Lola's for over two years, at least once a week. The food used to be amazing and the restaurant is the perfect setting for a casual lunch or a cozy date. I am sad to say that in the past 4 months, the food service, quality and customer service has gone downhill. I recently found two flies, yes TWO in my salad. I asked my waiter to please take care of it and replace my salad, I wasn't making a big deal. All of a sudden, this red faced shell of a man comes out, identifies himself as the "manager" and proceeds to give me a hard time. He all but accused me of bringing the flies into "his" establishment. I was super surprised by this. I mean, he sees me, weekly. I am not going to name any names, but we all know who he is. I also witnessed him bullying and mistreating a few employees on several occasions. Why would I continue to visit a restaurant that allows management to mistreat employees and now places no real value on the quality of food they are serving. If you are willing to let a salad be delivered with two very visible flies on it, what else is happening back there that we do not know of?...
