Instead of eating a hotdog at the movie theater with unknown ingredients I decided to look for restaraunts nearby as I had over 1.5 hours until the film trailers started. I found this wonderful place on google and was hoping they had Kibbeh.
I found the place easily and ordered some fried Kibbeh and a Falafel salad. Both were as fresh as Possible despite it being nearly their closing time. The fried Kibbeh was hot delicious and crunchy outside and the soft warm savory insides took as well to the given sauce as the hot sauce.
The hot sauce is So much better than BBQ sauces filled with sugar and thickeners- it was brightly spicy with a warm vinegary bite. They should Sell their sauce in bottles as it is perfect.
The falafel salad made at ~ 9:30pm was so fresh and nice I have to say their restaurant is worthy of trying whether you are familiar with Lebanese food or not. There are options for everyone.
tl;dr for neophytes. Kibbeh is chopped lamb with warm spices and it becomes something better.
Five stars. Highly recommended for everyone.
If you miss the former Cowboy Kebab on Beltline in Richardson, it is well worth the drive to Board Bites.
I also received the gift of a fresh hot Falafel sample and it was amazing. The Falafel Salad is great too, with large crisp pieces of falafel taking the place of savory croutons and there being enough of them to likely count as a protein...
Read moreMy wife and I had driven past this place dozens of times, always meaning to try it, so when we wanted lunch a couple of days ago we made a spontaneous stop.
We ordered three things: a beef shawarma wrap, a gyro, and an order of falafel bites.
First off, the beef shawarma wrap. It was fine. Good, but not great, it was tasty and filling, and a good value. If we'd only ordered that, we probably wouldn't be back. We haven't had much shawarma, so maybe we're not huge shawarma fans, not sure.
The falafel bites - of which there were six - they were really good. Crispy, hot, and served with a sauce we really enjoyed. Definitely getting those again.
The highlight was the gyro. I've tried gyros at a number of places, and this was an excellent example of a gyro. I'd go so far as to say Board Bites might be my go-to gyro shop, or at least amongst the best I've tried in recent memory.
Atmosphere was typical cafe - metal chairs, plenty of space. Service was polite, professional, and fast. Establishment was clean. Prices fair - roughly $10-15 per person.
No military discount.
Overall, good place. I'm glad we checked it out. We'll definitely stop by again sometime and try some different things on the menu. Recommend the gyro and the...
Read moreUpdate (2024): I have been here countless times between my last review and now and gladly, the quality has been consistently good. The last time we dined here, we had a Kafta Rice Bowl and a Chicken Shawarma meal. The Kafta Bowl tasted really good, especially the meat. Considering that this is just under $10, this is pretty reasonably priced. The Chicken Shawarma was very good too. Always a fan favourite! Keep up the good worky Board Bites!
Original Review: I have always been on the look out for some good Shawarmas and Middle Eastern food, and I was pleasantly surprised with this find called Board Bites. Absolutely neat and clean place, with a great ambience. It's a self service place, so you order, pay, and then wait for your food. Even then I felt the service was pleasant. We had the Chicken Shawarma (not the board but just the wrap), and some Kibbeh. The Kibbeh was excellent and just what it is supposed to taste like. The shawarma was also great, although the fillings are something different from the usual ones. Also, as a nice gesture, the chef gave us free falafel to try out and those were great too. This was my second time here. Highly...
