Just got done eating here with family. We took them here to sample the good food that we read so much about on the reviews. This is more a review of our experience here rather than the overall quality of the restaurant. Keep in mind the restaurant was not full by any means. Besides us there were maybe 5 other groups total. I have had plenty of bad experiences at restaurants, but this is the first time I have ever felt the need to write about it.
When we got there, the waitress took our drink order and promptly brought them out. Great. Then we waited 10-15 more minutes before she came back for our orders. Instead of taking them, however, she said that she and the rest of the staff were about to have a meeting. My uncle in law, being too kind, said that she should go do the meeting instead of taking our orders (just to see how much she would take advantage of his kindness he later said). So we sit, with no food, for another 10-15 minutes while we watch our waitress and the rest of the staff sample wine together. It was a poor managerial decision to do something like this during the middle of the dinner service, so I blame the manager. Finally, once they were done, we wait another 10 minutes while she talks to who I assume are some friends on the waitstaff (because she was smiling and laughing with them) before she comes back to take our order.
At this point we are hungry as hell, and we can see other people who got here before us getting their food. We have to wait another 25 minutes before getting food. My fiancee and I ordered some of their amazing pizza we heard so much about, and I could not have been more disappointed. We ordered the fig & prosciutto as well as the charcuterie. Both looked and tasted worse than middle school cafeteria food. The fig & prosciutto had some okay taste in the toppings, but the dough was of the absolute worst quality and tasted more like dough that had been frozen for weeks. My fiancee took one bite of the chacuterie and said "Papa John could make a better pizza," and she was absolutely right. I cannot speak of what my in laws got, but they did not seem very impressed with the salmon.
Despite this, we all ate our food without complaining to the waitress because we're just not those kind of people. Even if we wanted to though we couldn't because she was nary to be seen. When we were looking for her, she was talking to her friends and sipping on yet another glass of wine. My grandma in law tried to ask for more bread, but she was promptly ignored so I had to get her attention. She said she'd bring it out, but she goes directly from our table to talking with her friends and sipping wine again. 10 minutes pass, we are already mostly done with our meal at this point, and she finally brings a little piece of bread on a plate. No apologies, no regrets.
When we finally ask for the check, we patiently wait for her to come back... but she doesn't. We wait another 20 minutes and then finally ask another waiter passing by for it. We left completely dissatisfied and disappointed that our Christmas outing with family (who have to drive 2 hours to get to Dallas) was spent at this sub par restaurant with below the bar service.
My advice is that don't expect much from the food here. We didn't have any wine, but they sure tried to push it on us and I can definitely see why now. You would have to have a few drinks in you before you could enjoy what this place is serving. There are plenty of great places on this strip, so do yourself a favor and pick literally...
Read morePerhaps we should check all of the reviews and see which group of people and having the most undesirable experience at this establishment. 4 Years ago I made my first review on this place. I thought I would give it another try. It seems things haven't changed much. The waiter was in such a rush he never waited for us to complete our order. When one person ordered he would take off. Then we wouldn't see him until he returned with that order. Then the other person would order, he would take off. And could not make another order until he returned with that order. that each time we ordered one thing he took off. At on point we saw him wiping a table down where there were no customers. He seemed very agitated and screamed "what" from across the room. As if he expected us to yell from across the rom to him. I finally just look at him in a confused manner, an he eventually came to address our query. One of our group thought all of the wines in the flight tasted exactly the same.
My first review from 2020 - The last two times I have taken a date to CRU wine bar in Shops at Legacy have been very disappointing. The very last time, I ordered a flight. One if the glasses actually tasted like coal oil and vinegar. After complaining about the flavor of the wine to the waiter, he returned to my table after speaking to the owner. And stated the the owner agreed that the wine that that particular wine was poured from was "bad". I am not sure how that could happen, but that is what they told me. On my previous visit before this one. I could almost swear that two of the glasses in the flight had exactly the same wines in them. When I questioned the bartender about this, he simply Gage me a wry smile and assured me that this was not the case. Definitely, not cool. I don't think I would give this place another try. My suggestion,...

First off - I thought I might feel a little out of place in here. It's super fancy (dimly lit), lots of pretty wood, and hundreds of wine bottles. My wine typically consist of whatever my fav mexican restaurant is slinging (usually some mystery Sangria). So I was a bit apprehensive and wondered if I was even dressed well enough to be in the place. (shorts/Tshirt/ball cap)
Once - I entered the door way I was immediately greeted by the GM Jeff, nice guy in a suit and then by the amazing wine wizard, TJ. TJ was very friendly and made me and my wife feel super welcome! Didn't even laugh when I couldn't pronounce any of the fancy names correctly.
Flights, Flights and more flights: Try them all, including the cheese! Make sure to try the bottom flight (not sure of the number). There's a wine called "something Honig". It can't be missed. Another favorite of mine was the Salado or Saldo. Something with an "S". I think Salado is a town I like in central Texas. Anywho - drink them all! I even tried some white wine which typically is a stretch for me. But the flights gives you enough to figure out what you may or may not like the best.
PORT - dont skip out on this one. Unless maybe you're diabetic. Other than that, GET IT! Great to share with that special someone (or be stingy and savor it all for yourself!)
Hopefully we'll be back in Plano SOON! I'm ready for some more WINE!
UPDATE: Went again Saturday night and had a great time again. Met some more great people at the bar. Everyone here is so laid back. My wife and I learned so much. TJ kept me stocked up on ice water as well (so that I might remember all the cool things we learned about grapes!).
Tip: Set outside on the patio so that I can have a seat inside at the SUPER...
