First of all, the food and atmosphere here were fantastic. The food and ambience were great and reasonably priced. The main gripe we had was the service at this restaurant. We had L.C. as our server, and everything was fine when taking our orders. We were a group of 6 teenagers, but 2 people from our party were showing up so we just ordered a tonkatsu as an appetizer and 4 of the same exact ramens. There was also a special deal going on at the moment where if you ordered 2 ramens bowls, you could get a special matcha cold brew for free and since we got 4 bowls, we decided to get 2 of these matcha beverages. We even checked with our waitress about this special deal and she even confirmed it with us. After our food arrived, we were not checked up on a single time. No refills on our water and no one came to pick up our dirty plates from the tonkatsu appetizer. We were only able to get the server’s attention when the other 2 people from our party and placed their orders, and even then we had to ask someone else who wasn’t our server to take the plates off of our table. We think that since we were all teenagers, and we were a party of 6, the server knew that automatic gratuity was included and decided to give us minimal service. All of us work at a restaurant by the way so we were trying to be understanding and the best customers we could be because we know the stigma around teenagers not tipping or being terrible customers and we know what servers and restaurant workers go through on the daily. I work as a host and a server, so I know sometimes servers have bad days or moments, but I also know what good service looks like and that every customer should receive basic and good service despite knowing that you will already be compensated for your work. I also want to mention that the restaurant was not busy at the time we dined in and we noticed that the tables around us weren’t checked up on often as well. Then came the time to pay and we sat around waiting and trying to wave our server or any other server to ask for the check. 2 of us ended up going to the POS at the server station to try paying and asking to split our checks. Our server told the 2 that she would come to our table and split it that way. Her way of splitting the check utterly confused us. I was going to pay for my ramen and my friend’s ramen and the appetizer, and I tried explaining this is to her multiple times, but she told us that she was going to read out all the items we ordered and to raise our hand for what we ordered. She handled the 2 people that showed up late orders since they had ordered different things and mind you, 4 of us ordered the same exact ramen and part of the reason we chose the same ramen was to make splitting the check easier. She said our ramen and I reiterated to her that I will be paying for 2 of the ramens and the tonkatsu appetizer. She said ok and then told me my total was $117. She didn’t show us the itemized check or anything since she was doing everything on the handheld POS. This next part was my fault for not clarifying the check, but I ended up paying for the rest of our ramen and then I ended up tipping 5% more on top of the gratuity when she turned the POS around and showed me the additional tip screen because I was just confused about the entire situation (I was also fully prepared to tip on top of gratuity if the service had been good). I asked for the itemized receipt and when I received the receipt, I saw that she charged us for the matcha cold brew tea that was supposedly free when you buy 2 ramens. My group and I sat there for a few minutes trying to figure out what went wrong and if we had misread the deal. We asked for a manager to clarify on the situation and he told us that our server simply forgot to put in the deal and charged us for the tea. Our server was right next to us and the manager when this was happening, but she completely ignored the situation and we didn’t receive a single apology from her. He comped the tea, but this experience makes me wonder how the restaurant is training...
Read moreThis is an excellent ramen shop. Honestly their summer promo was what get me into their doors, but it has more to offer than just 99 cents Izakaya promotion.
I went 3 times during the last week, with different parties. Each and every time, I am impressed by how the tables were set and how the party was welcomed by the staff. Once seated, you can find the menu and utensils nicely set at your seat. Servers automatically asked your preferred beverage and prepare them while you look thru the menu. Hot /cold, with or without lemon, every detail was done correctly. The restaurant also has vaulted ceiling so it's very comfortable to sit in. The first time, the server was even detailed enough to tell us the booths along the wall will be colder due to the air vents' position. That's a very warm reminder for my old mom. And that day I had something important to get done online. The server kindly took my mom's order, and patiently wait till I get done to take mine, by which time my mom already halfway finished. You can see that the servers are trained right. So thumbs up already for ambience and service.
The food also do not disappoint. Some of the very dense favor soup like tonkatsu, and many others, they offer a low sodium option, which is very thoughtful. All their ramens that I've tried, both hot ones, cold ones, should, garlic tonkatsu, all came out excellent. One time, the egg came out so perfect it taste not blank and not too salty, the yolk was transparent, gigglely, but not leaking. And when you bite on it, the yolk flows inside your mouth. That is really the best ramen egg I have ever had (see photo).
The noodles are also cooked "to the point". Soup is also very flavorful. And every ingredients were arranged artistically in the bowl when it arrived the table.
And the best of the summer 99cents Izakaya promo, is I get to try all the Izakaya dishes that interest me. Just to mention the ones I have tried: "the karaage salad" is of very generous portion and the chicken looks hard on the outside but was surprisingly soft and juicy when you bite in. Good for sharing or even just as an entree by itself. "The tempura" was also done well. It has 2 pieces of everything except shitake mushroom. It has shrimp, eggplant, kabocha, zucchini. But this is meant to be eaten right away when still hot. Very delicious ( though one time the shop actually ran out of this dish) "The geso karaage" (fried octopus legs), oh everybody loves this. We can't have enough of it. So yummy! "The takoyaki" (octopus balls), kids love love love them. Tastes very good. "The prawn cutlet" was also very flavorful and crisp. 4 pieces (2 pcs cut in half each) and only the lucky ones got to taste this delicious delicacy. "The chicken wings" texture is just right, slightly charred to provide that crispy edge on the chicken skin, and the sauce has some citrus component that when come togther created a harmonious experience. About 5 wings, enough to share.
So far, for every dish I have ordered, I can see their attention to details and how they are all meticulously done. I have no complaints but only compliments.
And as a final touch, they even gave me a very pretty bag to hold my left overs taken home.
This restaurant not just offer good food, but an excellent dining experience.
And needless to say, legacy west is a walking- friendly area with ample garage parking or valet parking whichever you prefer. Next door there is already a gelato shop of you still crave for a sweet ending to your day of culinary adventure.
And by the way, don't forget to join their loyalty program. It does earn rewards pretty quickly. Just provide phone number when check out. You can get receipts and check rewards balance all...

Was excited to try this place out after seeing a recent interview about the place. Sadly the excitement of Japanese ramen spot with house made broth and friendly service quickly diminished.
Walking in the sticky floors caught my attention. After a few mins in an otherwise empty restaurant we were greeted by a staff member she was about as welcoming as a bag of rocks in museum no smile welcome in nothing. As we walked on more sticky floors over to our seats we sat down and looked around for a moment it was clear that the care in this restaurant was non existent .Dirty floors filled with food wrappers and crumbs and food swept under tables. This was not one table but all of them. The window sills filled with what had to be months of dirt was quite the site. It was clear the care for the restaurant was non existent. We looked at the menus. After 10 minutes our waitress came. Again not a smile hi my name is so and so a welcome in nothing. She dropped waters off and attempted to scurry off when we asked if we could order something she said with a sigh sure. We ordered an appetizer chicken karrage as I was about to order something else she ran away. 12-14 mins later the karage came out mind you the restaurant was empty. The flavor was decent but the karage was chewy and full of tendon. A I’ll prepped chicken thigh. The server returned and we ordered 3 bowls Hakata Ramen Garlic ramen and miso ramen. After another 10 mins or so our bowls came out. Presentation looked decent but that’s where it ended. The chasu the chasu was in edible chewy super thin looked like shoe leather. Sadly it was this way on all bowls so it was not a one off sad. egg only came on one bowl the garlic. All thought the inside was cooked correctly the egg was not marinated at all and had zero flavor I think I read this was supposed to be a famous egg . Sad.
The broth. Tastes can be subjective when it comes to ramen but as people with quite a bit of ramen experience this was our take
The garlic. It had very little essence of a good tonkotsu and was mostly flavors of garlic powder soy and mirin the crispy garlic was a nice touch for us it was a 5out of 10
Hakata Ramen very sweet way to much mirin very little if any creamy tonkotsu very one note. flavor 5out of 10
Miso Ramen absolutely un edible it was a bowl of salt like someone took straight Miso paste filled the bowl added a hint of broth and water and sent it out. The corn garnish on it was nothing more then canned corn with no preparation sad 0-10
Premium prices for a non premium experience
This place needs some serious attention from its owners and chefs. Start with cleaning the front of house and some friendly staff then work on the bowls. Overall very...
