On October 3 I ordered lamb biryani, and on November 6 the hyderabad (white, colorful rice) biryiani with chicken, and a dal curry with a nan.
For me, i like my nan to be fluffy and dry, but this one seemed buttered and slightly flat and crisp. I like my dal to be real thick, but this one was runny. It also was spicy, as if jalapeno-spiced, so I couldn't taste the chick peas as much, which was not my style..
The biryani had tender pieces of a small chicken, which was good, and the rice was good, but I felt like it was a lot of rice, and little else. My favorite biryani, from a place now out of business, was quite oily, and this one had no perceptible oil, but maybe that is why the taste was not to my liking.
For the lamb biryani, the lamb was small pieces, about 3/4-inch square, and rather dry. I was surprised the rice was sort of greenish, as I expected the white, orange, and reddish rice, but now know the colorful one is hyderabad.
In addition to not finding the tastes I wanted, it also seemed each item cost about $2 more than each should have.
As an aside, so many Indian places play music videos, and this one does, too, and I am a little tired of watching these. It would be better if they played videos of traveling in India.
The workers seem nice. At lunchtime there were many people with a sub-continent heritage, so it appeals to them. Perhaps other items would be more to my liking. Definitely...
Read moreA very good experice here at Rice N Roti. This was my first time trying South Indian cuisine and I was not disappointed!
Pros: Big and clean place with nice interiors. The owner and server were both great people. The Lamb Thali tastes great and not very spicy at all. It can be easily shared with two people. It comes with lamb curry, daal, chicken curry, and rice or Naan. The lamb curry was the highlight of the meal and it reminded me of Bangladeshi home made food! Great tandoori chicken! It is flavorful with burst of spices In your mouth. 4 big pieces for only $13. I would say it's value for money in today's inflated market. Free water! Which I always appreciate from a restaurant as it doesn't break the bank for them and a kind gesture. Cons: There was a new server at the restaurant and we didn't like the owner misbehaving with him a bit. The server was excellent though! The toilet had a weird smell through the corridor. The tea was so so. The milk is thick which I really like though. Need to pay a bit more attention to customer service. Even though we asked our tandoori chicken to be very spicy it didn't feel like it was!
Overall a great place to try our South...
Read moreSo I guess we went on a wrong (?) Sunday or something because we didn’t get a chance to taste any 5 star rated foods items on the day we went.
So we went with two families plus kids. First We ordered two non veg thali , chicken and mutton each. While the chicken curry mutton curry and chicken 65 in the thali was goodish , the briyani served turned out to be really bland and cold! Please take this as a serious feedback and please please ensure the briyani served is good and not cold.
Next is chicken kebab. It was over cooked and had a strange overpowering flavor of capsicum (I guess) , strangely the same flavor and oil overpowered chicken fried rice too.
Over all out of all the items we ordered, Parota and kothuparotta were really soft and tasty. Remaining items especially Briyani served in Thali really needs some authentic level of touch!
We drove all the way from other side of 380 with a heavy expectation. hopinf that the new management will take our feedback(Briyani, please) and implement, we’ll surely visit again because that’s what foodies...
