I was surprised how much I didn't like it given the other reviews which swore by the authenticity of the restaurant. We dined in. The atmosphere is very minimal in a strip mall well past its prime. But that is ok because I am there to eat, not oogle over wall paper or fancy finishes. But this restaurant was dirty. The doors looked as if they hadn't been wiped down in years with hand dirt and grease smudges all over them. The wall at our booth had flecks and spots from past patrons dining at that table. The booths were ripped and worn. The 'table cloth' was actually a very thin [trash bag thickness] piece of white plastic. [See photos] They had several layers of the plastic on the table so they can just pull one layer and the table will be ready for the next people. It wasn't busy the night we were there, Sat 3/12, at all. There were maybe four other tables occupied. The staff were not very fluent in English which made ordering a bit difficult. There was a feeling of confusion/chaos among the two or three staff we saw roaming around the dining room. We ordered a very large spread to try various things including many of our favorites so we could gauge the quality. We had tofu appetizer, dumplings, wonton soup, crab wontons, chicken lo mein, beef with broccoli. None of it was worth mentioning. Sauces were so-so, not very good quality meats, over cooked noodles and veggies, greasy. It was all more along the lines of Chinese fast food. It sat like a bowling ball in our stomachs leaving a yucky feeling. We...
Read moreI recently had the opportunity to dine at a Sichuanese restaurant, and I must say it was an incredibly flavorful and satisfying experience.
The restaurant had a cozy and inviting ambiance, with traditional Chinese decor and dim lighting. The staff was friendly and attentive, providing excellent service throughout the meal.
As for the food, it was truly outstanding. The menu featured a wide variety of Sichuanese dishes, ranging from classic favorites to more unique and adventurous options. We started the meal with a few appetizers, including the spicy cucumber salad and the dan dan noodles. Both were incredibly flavorful, with a perfect balance of heat, tang, and spice.
For the main course, we decided to try the fish fragrant eggplant, kung pao chicken, and mapo tofu. Each of these dishes was expertly prepared, with bold flavors and a generous use of Sichuan peppers. The fish fragrant eggplant was tender and melt-in-your-mouth, while the kung pao chicken had just the right amount of heat. The mapo tofu was another standout, with its silky tofu and rich, spicy sauce.
Additionally, the portion sizes were generous, and the prices were reasonable considering the quality of the food. We left the restaurant feeling full and satisfied.
Overall, I highly recommend this Sichuanese restaurant for anyone who is a fan of bold and spicy flavors. The combination of delicious food, attentive service, and inviting atmosphere makes it a must-visit for lovers of...
Read moreThe restaurant environment is dark, private, and kind of bland. "So why the 5-star review?" you might be asking yourself.
The food is amazing. The price is unbelievably low. And the staff is good. The food and the price are what make this place stand out from the crowd.
Their tea-smoked duck is amazing. Every person in my family who has tried it has loved it, and same is true for every friend who I've invited here. The down-side to it is that it's a small amount of meat, but the flavor is so worth it.
The real value comes in their other dishes: their smoked pig belly with garlic leek is epic! Smoked pig belly is known here as bacon. That's right: a plate of smoked bacon, stir-fried and served with fried rice with egg, with chinese seasoning (and sauce is optional). H*ll yes!
Their portions of fried rice are huge. In many other restaurants, they'll either serve you under-seasoned fried rice, or they'll add a bunch of ingredients (peas, carrots, green onions, etc) to make it have flavor and color. Not here. They add only seasoning and egg to their rice, but don't let that simplicity fool you. Their fried rice is no joke. It tastes amazingly good, and it'll fill you up easy.
Try to get a seat during the lunch special, when it's cheapest. It's so worth it. This place is my go-to place for cheap, tasty food....
