On October 3 I ordered lamb biryani, and on November 6 the hyderabad (white, colorful rice) biryiani with chicken, and a dal curry with a nan.
For me, i like my nan to be fluffy and dry, but this one seemed buttered and slightly flat and crisp. I like my dal to be real thick, but this one was runny. It also was spicy, as if jalapeno-spiced, so I couldn't taste the chick peas as much, which was not my style..
The biryani had tender pieces of a small chicken, which was good, and the rice was good, but I felt like it was a lot of rice, and little else. My favorite biryani, from a place now out of business, was quite oily, and this one had no perceptible oil, but maybe that is why the taste was not to my liking.
For the lamb biryani, the lamb was small pieces, about 3/4-inch square, and rather dry. I was surprised the rice was sort of greenish, as I expected the white, orange, and reddish rice, but now know the colorful one is hyderabad.
In addition to not finding the tastes I wanted, it also seemed each item cost about $2 more than each should have.
As an aside, so many Indian places play music videos, and this one does, too, and I am a little tired of watching these. It would be better if they played videos of traveling in India.
The workers seem nice. At lunchtime there were many people with a sub-continent heritage, so it appeals to them. Perhaps other items would be more to my liking. Definitely...
Read moreI visited Mayura for lunch on a Monday as most other Indian restaurants are closed. Its newly opened no frills restaurant. It is a sit down restaurant but it could very well be a cafeteria style restaurant. There was only one person taking orders and the owner (or one of the owners) was sitting in the corner with airpods on.
The server was friendly and I was offered a drink but i chose tap water and i got water in a small plastic cup (it was room temp and ice water was not offered). After seeing the positive reviews of the unlimited non-veg thali ($15.99), i ordered it.
The food came quickly (way too quickly) and i could see that it was warmed up food. (rather than fresh) The paratha were barely warm, the rice was clumpy (warmed from previous day) and papad soft and chewy. The dry and curry chicken along with the chole were the tasty but the mutton was all bone and no meat. When i asked for seconds i was told that its only available on the weekends. I asked if the pricing on weekends is higher i was told yes which is not mentioned anywhere.
I saw another couple order the thali who came at the same time i did and left before me. As i was leaving i saw that they had barely touched the food so it wasn't just me who did not enjoy their meal.
Lastly they have a sign that offers a free drink if patrons provide positive reviews with photo so take the 5 star reviews on google for what...
Read moreI ordered chicken biryani from Mayura, and it was an extremely disappointing experience. The chicken was spoiled, sticky, and clearly not fresh—tasted like it had been sitting for days. When I raised the issue with them, they showed no sense of responsibility, didn’t apologize, and outright refused to issue a refund. This is by far the worst food experience I’ve ever had. Very poor food hygiene and customer service. I strongly advise others to be cautious before ordering from here.
Reply to response from Restaurant:
I already spoke to one of your staff members and clearly explained that the Vijayawada Chicken Biryani was spoiled. After checking my DoorDash order, he acknowledged the issue and mentioned he would speak to the manager. No one followed up, and no one from your team even had the courtesy to apologize for serving spoiled food.
I also told your staff I was willing to bring back the spoiled biryani to show the condition, but I was told it wasn’t necessary.
Now you claim to have sold 300+ chicken biryanis that day — can you actually prove that 300 orders of Vijayawada Chicken Biryani were made on June 10th? If you truly stand by your quality, be transparent and back up your claim with the actual transaction records.
Rather than dismissing genuine complaints and hiding behind generic responses, please focus on accountability and...
