Very disappointed about a visit last night to LIta's with friends and family. Got there around 6:00 p.m.. Restaurant maybe 1/4 full so not that busy. Saw a table of staff sitting near the door. My guess is before their shift started quite possibly or not? Anyways I first saw that the frequent customer check-in pad by the hostess stand was off to the side and was not in the normal place. I had a text offer less than 2 weeks ago for free queso or a few dollars off our meal. I asked the hostess about the check-in and she said they no longer offer this incentive (We miss you at LIta's! Free queso or $4.00 off) and I asked if Lita's would still honor my coupon and she said YES. We were immediately seated and got our chips and salsa right away. Flash forward 10 minutes no one had greeted us at our table and asked what we would like to drink. Saw the same crew sitting at the table and some staff at the bar chatting with one another. Tables around us were being taken care of. By this point all of our table was craning our necks hoping to get noticed. A waitress with a blonde pony-tail must have noticed us and went over to the hostess stand when I saw her point over to us. A few minutes later (going on 15 minutes by this point) another waitress came over and apologized saying she was confused. Don't know what she was confused about. Ok, we were not going to let a 15 minute delay to be greeted and drink orders taken at our table ruin our night though others that had been seated were already enjoying their drinks and had put in their food orders by this time. We got our drinks and food in a timely manner. Then when we wanted more drinks during the meal (drink and water cups were empty) we saw the waitress at the bar texting on her cell. I started to walk up to the bar to get some drink service. Had to walk to the bar to get service! No apologies nothing. When we got the check the discount offered earlier this month was not included. I should add the waitress said she would look into it, the hostess said they would honor it as mentioned earlier in this review and a manager of some sorts that came by our table said they would take care of it. Did not happen. Please note I have come to Lita's almost once a month since early last year. Every time I have been here have seen the owner in the establishment. I believe he owns an Indian restaurant in North Dallas. Never had an issue when he was there. I imagine he keeps a close eye on things while he is there. Same with the tall blonde hostess who also was NOT there last night. She knows us and has been welcoming and very hospitable. I guess with these 2 folks not there last night time to slack off. So sad. I stopped going to Salsa's across the street because the quality of food was so much better. Very disappointed in...
Read moreYikes, where or where do I begin. My close friends and I wanted to enjoy good times at a local, non-chain Tex-Mex restaurant, and I suggested this place, and while I haven't been here in a few years, I always had fond memories of a good time and a really good meal here. Well, that was then, now is now. The atmosphere was okay, with loud 80's music playing, which didn't fit very well with the Tex-Mex theme. It wasn't busy there as there were quite a few empty tables. We were a table of five guests, and our server seemed like he was prompt and courteous. Our server Brian B. promptly brought out our drinks, and took our food order. We all ordered our entrees, and I decided to add a cup of queso blanco as a little extra to the complimentary trio of salsas and chips they already provide. After a short period of time, the entrees start trickling out of the kitchen. Tacos al carbon, the enchiladas especial, and another enchilada plate but my plate (carne asada with black beans and flour tortillas) and my lady friend's plate (grilled tilapia with no rice and extra vegetables) were missing in action. Our server then comes out with the queso blanco, and tells us our plates will be out in a few minutes. A woman approaches our table and asks how is everything, and we mentioned that our plates haven't arrived yet, so she offered to go to the kitchen to get a status update. Well, she returns and tells us that there was an "accident" with my plate and they were remaking it. Things that make you go hmmmmm. So our plates finally make it out of the kitchen, and the tilapia came out with extra vegetables, plus a double serving of rice. Weird. My plate comes out with refried beans instead of the black beans. Not once did the server come check on us, especially after the "accident" in the kitchen. He never refilled our drinks, too forever to check on us to see if we wanted to-go containers. We got our checks and two of the three check had a 20% service fee on them - we were a party of five. And the checks were not split properly, so that took forever and a day to have them rectify it. I finally asked for a manager, and it took three attempts to get the manager to our table. I explained what a disaster the meal was, and that we needed the service fee removed, which she gladly did. She did take a whole whopping 15% off our two checks with the late entrees, and she was apologetic, but the whole experience will make me not want to return...
Read moreWe went with high hopes. It was nearly 6 on a Tuesday and there were only 2 or 3 other tables seated. It was cold and rainy so maybe everyone stayed home? We stayed and gave it a shot. The whole Indian/Mexican fusion was interesting on paper but in practice not so much (and I love both Indian food and Mexican food). I ordered what I thought was a roasted poblano rellano. The menu said NOTHING about it being battered and fried - just roasted and stuffed and served on a red sauce. I eat with food allergies so the menu description is something I depend on. Yep battered and fried. I traded with my boyfriend rather than waiting for a new dish (it took way longer than it should have for food that seemed pre-prepared). He had ordered chicken tikka tacos (Indian/Mexican fusion of tikka masala and tacos). He said the rellano was bland and not really good. The tacos were skimpy to say the least. 3 small strips of chicken and a couple of small strips of onion and one nickel-sized piece of bell pepper on cold corn tortillas. The beans we both had were bland and my white rice with frozen veggies mixed in (all super formed 1/4 cup of it) and his Spanish rice (same 1/4 cup mold of it) were dry and crusted on the outside like they were plated way ahead of time. Oh but mine came with cole slaw (the tastiest thing on my plate) that was simply shredded cabbage and what tasted like bottled balsamic vinaigrette dressing.
I gave them 2 stars instead of 1 because the manager (?) who delivered our food and basically argued with me about the menu not saying the rellano was battered and fried - went to get the menu to show me I was wrong only to turn around and walk away - comped the meal, the margarita rocks was good, and the waiter was polite
We left and went to Taco Bueno because we were both still hungry. All in all it is overpriced and not at all to my taste and somewhere we will not go...
