Had to change plans last minute and was so happy when my fiancĂ© spoke with a gentleman at Millstone that said he could squeeze us in with a 72-hour notice. They were unable to make the cake we requested but we were more than happy with what they could make, given the time frame---a basic/standard 6-inch round vanilla cake with strawberry buttercream. When I picked up the cake, I found out a standard cake is usually $30. We were charged more than DOUBLE that amount. We were aware strawberry buttercream is a premium filling and would be a bit more but not 2x their standard rate. When I spoke with Francesca, I was told the dĂ©cor we asked for required more work and was not a basic decoration. My fiancĂ© had sent her an example of how we would like the cake to look and asked her to confirm that it would be considered a basic decoration; She said “yes.” My bday cake had less decoration on it than their standard cake example on the website. My fiancĂ© asked her to NOT add strawberries on top, but those instructions were not followed. I was advised to take them off when I got home. To top it off (no pun intended), the cake was quite dry. My family thought I may have been given an older cake. Very disappointing.

Francesca was an absolute DELIGHT to work with for our wedding cake. We couldn’t have asked for a more gorgeous and delicious wedding cake. Our guests loved the flavor and even those who don’t normally care for icing are up every bit! We had so many compliments from guests. As you can tell from our photos, we GREATLY enjoyed the cake as well. We met with Francesca before the wedding to taste cake and icing options (it was an incredibly tough decision thanks to how delicious it all was), and let her know about our wedding theme and vision. She absolutely nailed the champagne gold coloring and 3D fern effect on the cake. I was so sorry to not get to see her again on the day of the wedding, but she perfectly took the flowers provided by our florist to transfer our vision onto the cake as well! I was so impressed that I didn’t even need to give her direction with the florals on the cake, she just immediately nailed it. I can’t wait to order cake from her again for every event we have!

I’m leaving a second review, because we now have pictures and have had the pleasure of eating the cakes we ordered for our wedding! I am so incredibly thankful for Millstone. They came in a month before our wedding and delivered absolutely amazing cakes for our wedding day! Everyone has raved about them since. We have frozen and saved our topper for our one-year anniversary! I can’t wait! As far as cost goes, they were on target with other bakeries I had talked with, and when I gave them our budget, they sat down with me to help me figure out exactly what we could order and love and not go over budget. They delivered day of the wedding and were right on time. The cakes were beautiful (for reference-we added the flowers after delivery), and the taste was phenomenal. We ordered the butter pecan for the wedding cake and chocolate for the groom’s cake. I HIGHLY recommend them and talk about them often with friends! You will not be disappointed. â˜ș

We used Millstone Bakery for our wedding cake and had a terrible experience with the company.

On the day of our wedding, the delivery man called me, the bride, 4 times at 2:30 PM, while I was an hour away from walking down the aisle. Of course, I didn’t have my phone and watch on me as I was trying to focus on my special day and be in the moment. Once I noticed the missed calls, I called back and heard it was the bakery. I asked the man to please talk to Cynthia, my wedding coordinator, as it’s her job to communicate with vendors on the wedding day. He then told me that he didn’t have her number, which is frustrating as I saw an email she sent to all of our vendors with her contact information. At this point, I handed the phone to Cynthia to discuss details of the delivery with the man.

After receiving my phone back from Cynthia, I saw a text from the bakery that they were unable to deliver the cake because there was no room number included on the order. Our reception was in a ballroom at the hotel and we had signage indicating where “Luke and Sabrina’s” wedding was as well as many people working at the hotel who he could have talked to to determine the location for the cake delivery. We were also the only wedding at the hotel that day. I don’t know how you go to a hotel to deliver a wedding cake and don’t know where it is supposed to be delivered to. At this point, I was very stressed out and frustrated (again, I’m about to walk down the aisle) because a cake is more than just a dessert at a wedding ceremony. It’s a wedding tradition and the cake cutting is a significant moment in a wedding celebration.

Eventually, the cake was delivered, however, the delivery man also failed to include a box for us to take home the top tier (another common wedding tradition) and my family who was there had to find a box for it from the hotel so that my husband and I could take home the rest of the cake to eat on our one year anniversary.

Overall, I was very dissatisfied and disappointed with the cake delivery. I expected an high level of service and professionalism from Millstone Bakery. Even though the cake was delivered and everything worked out in the end, it caused undue stress on me that was unnecessary on my wedding day. The delivery man was profoundly unprofessional which was quite frustrating. If I hadn’t picked up my phone and called him back when I did, we may not have even had a cake on our wedding day.

I did not hear from the bakery for 3 days after this experience and reached out to let the owner know since the company had not even acknowledged what had gone wrong and the undue stress that it caused me on my wedding day.

I’m writing this review in the hopes of mitigating a stressful experience for other brides and those who are considering using Millstone Bakery for their...

This place was highly recommended to me by a co worker. I was excited to try it out for a cake tasting. It was about a two week process of me calling and trying to get a hold of the cake person to schedule a wedding cake tasting. I called on a Sunday and asked if we could schedule anything on a Tues around 5 the time I get off work. Whoever I spoke with told me they close at 5 but that they can check and see if they could stay open a little while for me. I got the call back that they couldn't do that day but that can pencil me in on Saturday at 12. They told me they would email me on Tuesday with a link to pay 20$ a head of time. The work passed and I never got my email. Saturday morning I called and asked if my tasting was still scheduled. I was transferred to the cake person who told me "no one told me this was scheduled". I let her know I had not received the email to pay, and she took my information(by this point she was the 3rd person who had taken my info) and that I could go today at 12, i paid over the phone. I arrived a little early, no worries that they weren't ready. At 12 the vale lady came out with cupcakes and plates on that was cracked. The told us to try them and didn't really explain them and said she would be back. We tried them but they were hard to swallow. They were obviously old cupcakes, the were hard and super dry. When she finally came back I asked of the cupcakes were old, she told me they were left over from another day. She asked me which one I liked I told her that I didn't like any at the moment just because of how old they tasted. She kind shrugged her shoulders and asked if I wanted to know anything more. I told her no and she got up and left. No sales pitch. No apology. Nothing. BRIDED TO BE PLEASE...

My brother and I were out looking for a new coffee-shop to try, and I am so pleased that we tried Millstone Bakery after reading the great reviews on Yelp. In general, we do our best to support small, family owned businesses. This area is dominated by chain coffee shops, but we now have a great go-to coffee, dessert and sandwich place in Millstone Bakery.

The owner is a very friendly and kind gentleman from Belgium. He took the time to chat with us, tell us more about the bakery, and the quality ingredients they use. Everything at the bakery is made from scratch, daily. No unbleached flour, high-fructose corn syrup, preservatives or hydrogenated fats. All the chocolate products are made with chocolate from Belgium.

You can most definitely taste the quality and love that the owners put into the food. We enjoyed two lattes and chocolate eclairs, and both were just the right amount of sweet, which isn't a balance most places achieve easily. The owner took the time to prepare the latte well, and it had the perfect consistency, with a hint of Belgian chocolate.

The bakery also has a very pleasing ambience, and I can see myself returning there to enjoy more of their offerings while studying or enjoying a relaxing weekend. While we didn't have the chance to try their soups or sandwiches this time, we will most definitely be back...
