McAlister's Deli — Restaurant in Plano

This was my first time here, and I was horrified by the lack of customer service and lack of cleanliness. First off, the girl taking my order was so soft spoken I could hardly hear what she was saying, and she acted like she didn't want to be there. I am patient, so I dealt with it, but after receiving my number to sit down and wait for my food, I was disgusted by every single table being covered in old food and drink. So I went up and kindly asked for my food to be to go instead of sit in. I was immediately told by the manager to be understanding that they just had a lunch rush. instead of apologizing and offering to clean a spot for me to sit. So I rudely told him back "and now you have a cleaning rush!" I will not ever dine with McAllister again after such rude behavior by the staff. If I were the owner of this establishment, I'd fire everyone and start over. If this is the only employees you can muster up I'd close my doors for good. I haven't even gotten to the food quality yet. I ordered a 12" Italian and was told they were without ham, so I asked for a suggestion since it is my first visit. Normally I would dine somewhere else after my first order wasn't available but I was extremely hungry and decided to order something else. She suggested the king club chicken, and it sounded good so that's what I ordered. When I opened my box and picked up my sandwich it fell apart because it was so soggy. Bread is supposed to be toasted but because it was so soggy it turned me off and I threw it away. So I wasted 18 dollars and had the worst customer experience I've had in a long time. After a long week last week battling illness for 10 days with our son we decided today to treat our family to lunch. We have never before tried McAllister’s deli, but have heard good things. Looking at the menu we felt it was the healthiest choice for our son. First impression was amazing!!! Outside was clean, doors and windows were clean. This is always a plus when it comes to restaurants. Dawn took our order and let’s just say WOW!!! She was very cheerful and absolutely brightened all of our day!!! Typically in restaurant environments large orders tend to irritate workers, not here!!! She was beyond happy to help. She made suggestions and some wonderful recommendations!!!! We spent about $70 to feed 4 🙈 but it was well worth it. I loved how our meals were fresh and tasty and ready even before we finished our order! Dawn visited our table many times throughout our visit, this was way more than expected but she made it amazing! Amelia found her way over to us throughout the visit, she was also amazing!!! Coming from a lifetime working in restaurants I happened to ask a few questions!!! Both Amelia and dawn was happy to share with us their experiences working there!!! Kudos to the management for the work they do, I personally know it’s not easy. We will definitely be recommending you guys and returning ourselves to this specific location. UPDATE: the store manager reached out to me to see if I would give them another try. On Monday, I ordered the Savannah salad with grilled chicken to-go. Everything in the salad was fresh. The portion was bigger than last time and the presentation of the food was very good!! 👍 Glad I gave this place another try!!

————————————- If I could give this store location -5, I would. Horrible to non-existing customer service. There was no one at the counter for several minutes. Then I saw two then three servers behind the counter walking around none of them made any eye contact with me or asked if I needed service. Then when finally one of them came to the counter and took my order, he didnt apologies for his lack of service. When my to go salad came out, I opened the box at the counter; it looked horrible, no presentation what so ever. Looked like they dropped the box, cause all the salad was shoved and piled up to one side, and one of the dressing containers was upside down. Not appealing at all!!! After I started eating the salad at home there were several nasty soggy red lettuce leaves and the green lettuce was not fresh. See picture.
