Generally, I don't write bad reviews for any restaurants because I understand that it's tough to survive in the service industry in today's market. However, I was compelled to share my recent experience at Paleta Mia, which used to be one of my favorite places to visit when I wanted to enjoy Mexican food for a change.
This past Sunday, I visited them and, as usual, the food was okay. However, the customer service was very poor, especially from the lady at the cashier counter. I believe her name was Melany, and she was very rude and mannerless. Not only did she argue with me, but she also raised her voice, making me feel very insulted in front of other guests. Even though one of the owners intervened and corrected her, she continued to be rude and argumentative.
Later, she was moved from the cashier counter to the kitchen, and the owner offered an apology to me. However, the damage was already done. I don't know, but I feel that I will never go back there because my self-respect is more important than anything. I had given them good 5-star reviews before and recommended the place to many friends. However, now they need to rethink and make significant changes in customer service, especially in how their staff...
Read moreThis is the new Mexican dessert shop that just opened up in east Plano and has a great wide selection!
I'm always on the lookout for good elote and aqua frescas, and they offer both plus more yummy desserts here. They have multiple ice-cream flavors, fresh-cut fruits with chamoy and tajin, and refreshing frescas. I like their elote, but they don't have a hot sauce table where you can add how much you want like other paleteria. I had to ask the worker for an extra sauce cup just so I can adjust the spice level.
They have different frescas, one is cream/milk base and the other is fruit base. The milk base flavors (strawberry, horchata, etc) were a little too heavy for my liking, but their pineapple and watermelon (fruit base) were refreshing. Prices are a bit higher compared to the other one I go to, but I think their elote is worth the extra $1.
The service was good and the dining area looks bright and clean. It's located at the corner of Jupiter & 14th Street so you...
Read moreMexican Kitchen & Ice Cream Shop does a great job at what they do! The employees are polite and patient. Service might be a little bit slower, but they are helpful with getting you what you want and focusing on the person they are helping at the time. Never felt rushed or treated rudely nor seen them treat anybody else poorly.
As for the ice creams and juices, there are many options of different flavors, which were wonderfully made. They have some of the more regular flavored paletas as well as some more specialized versions of ice creams, which you can get in a bowl or a variety of different types of cones. Prices are very fair as well. You get good-sized scoops of ice cream for a good price.
My kids favorite is their Mangonada because it usually comes with a tamarind candy straw
Highly recommend this place to anybody who...
