Another edit in response to the owner who responded to my last review (Screenshots attached because i had to delete my previous reviews as it was getting to long and wouldnāt accept my new review):
To the person who responded to my review (assuming it was the owner):
First of all, if you would have read my review and understood, you would have known that my review was not about a particular person nor was it because of a woman not being black lol. My mother is white so the fact that you threw the race card at me is pathetic on so many levels and thatās sad as you said. My review was about the terrible timing and the lack of explanation or even compensation for the long waits. The fact that you cannot take constructive criticism says a lot about not only you as a business owner but as a person as well. As a person, when someone gives you constructive criticism, you take accountability and reflect on it to see if itās valid but whether or not it is does not mean you have to react and be rude about it. As a business owner, you take it and run with it to see how you can not only do better but to make it up to the customer so that they come back for business and possibly remove their negative review. Now moving on⦠You said when we call in, we arenāt the only ones and Iām fully aware of that. Trust and believe i know exactly how busy yaāll used to be but that is definitely no longer the case. The point of calling in an order ahead of time is to avoid the long wait time. I can understand if you give a time and be honest and say itās going to take an hour because we are behind or give me 30 minutes and Iāll have it ready. But when we call the order in and we are being told give me 15-20 minutes and we get there 20 minutes later and still wait another 30 minutes; thatās a huge problem. If you donāt see anything wrong with that then you clearly are the problem. Now on to my complaint for tonight. We gave yāall yet another chance tonight. We called the order in at 6:10 tonight and before even placing the order we literally asked if yāall were busy tonight and the young lady told us no yāall were not busy at all. Based on her response we went ahead and placed an order and she told us to give her 20 minutes. We drove all the way from Garland so it took us literally 15-20 minutes to drive over there. We got there and no one was there but 1 person waiting in his car whom we later found out had been waiting an hour. The lady told us someone was working on our order now so we thought ok maybe another 5 minutes. That wasnāt the case at all. We did not leave until 7:02pm. So from 6:10-7:02, how is that a 20 minutes wait. So you see the problem is not the young lady in the front who is not black lol. The problem is with who ever is cooking and handling. Even if you are cutting your own filets which is what we were told, it still should not take an hour to fry some fish. If you are cutting your own filets, that is something that needs to be prepped first thing in the morning before you even open. Also if you are to busy with orders and cannot keep up, then do not take phone or online orders until you are caught up. Handle your in store customers first or those who have already called in and then you can start back taking phone orders online orders once you have caught up. Iāve said my last and sadly this will be our last time visiting Ronnies. The lack of accountability and total rudeness to those who leave a negative review is unnecessary and again says a lot about you. This location definitely wonāt last. THATS IT,...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreReply to the owners response: Since we are on a nickname basis... Buddy, if you knew how to run your busines effectively you should know fridays are your busy day. If so, your would have staffed accordingly, prepped your kitchen, and trained your staff to accurately quote your customers on realistic wait times. You would be able to handle 40 tickets or even more. How do you think other restaurants handle crowds?
Plus, you had maybe 20 orders cycle through in the almost 90 minutes I spent in your restaraunt. That's a really slow turn for a restaurant mainly serving fried foods.
Food was okay, but not the best! Only bother if you don't value your time!
Wait Time: 6:15 PM Order Time 7:40 PM Left with my Meal 3 Combo Meals and 2 Drinks
I see the owner responds to reviews a lot, pointing out that we should expect a wait time. I was okay with waiting, I want to point that out! I ordered 3 combo plates and 2 daiquiris to go at 6:15 PM on a Friday. I was told it would be between 30-40 minutes wait. That's a steep wait for fried food, but I heard the food was worth it.
7:00 PM rolled around, and the restaurant was now full of people waiting. I asked the lady taking orders (who was clearly trying to keep her calm among all the orders that were piling up between DoorDash, Uber Eats, call-ahead orders, and walk-ins).The wait time being quoted now was 45 minutes, so I decided to check in just to see how much longer it might be. I was told my food was about to go in. 45 minutes, and now my food was just going in? I said okay and sat back down. Another 20 minutes went by, and other walk-in customers after me had gotten their orders and had already left, so I checked in again. Shortly after another customer decided to walk out because their wait was so long, and they were just going to "take it up with their credit card company, I was told they were very busy, and it would be another 15 minutes.
It had been an hour and twenty minutes since I first ordered when my order finally came out! I quickly checked the bags and took the food and daiquiris we ordered home to my family.
Food: We got two large combos (Catfish and Shrimp with fries), a large wing combo (with fries), and hush puppies. Catfish was good. The breading was just right, although the fish was a little pink. I assume it wasn't fully cooked because they were cranking orders out. Shrimp was good, and so were the wings. Hush puppies were a little overdone but still good. The food is the only reason I'm giving the restaurant 2 stars; it was 4/5.
Daiquiris: We got a peach and a PiƱa Colada daiquiri. Peach was good; PiƱa Colada was lacking a strong flavor. Could not really tell if they were alcoholic or not. Drank a 32 oz and didn't seem like there was much to them.
Atmosphere: They do have a few tables inside, but there's nothing to write home about the interior. Just a simple "fast food interior." It was clean, though!
Service: The lady taking the orders was clearly trying her best to keep everything running order-wise. The only feedback I would give would be to add a little more time when quoting how much longer it will take. Her times seemed to be half of how long things actually took, but she was nice and was trying to hold it together.
Overall, the food was good; however, we won't be back. Even those who called ahead waited 20-30 minutes after their quoted time to...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreUpdate: When I first came to this place the fish was really good. So I tried it again and it was good. I got the same thing catfish nugget basket. I got the small both times and they gave a nice amount. When I went back the 3rd time the fish was hard, they gave me the ends of the fish so of course it was like I was eating fried batter with no fish, the portion was very small and it was the catfish nugget basket. I tried it again and got the nugget basket. Still a bad mistake, it was no nuggets just fried ends of the fish...horrible. So I decided to try it again but this time I got the 2pc fillet catfish instead of the nuggets. This was better because I actually got fish with it being whole pieces. It took a long time even with me calling it in. I went back a 5th time and this time I decided to try the nuggets again BIG MISTAKE! I got my order home and it was literally about 5 little fried hard end nuggets and they put 2 small shrimps in the basket and I didn't even order shrimp. I guess since they didn't give me any fish they put the shrimp in the basket. It was HORRIBLE. I called it in at 3:05 and the lady told me 25mins. I arrived a little early at 3:20. I didn't leave with my food until 4:07pm. Then to get home and really have no food. It was a waste of my money and time and then I had to cook. I will never go back! Check your food before you leave if you try this place. I think they get over on people and DO NOT ORDER THE CATFISH NUGGETS because you will not be getting any fish. The lady at the counter was very nice that is the only good thing I can say about this place. It is also a different lady from when I first started coming. I think they have changed owners/management. I will be going to the real Ronnie' Catfish in South Dallas on 2nd Ave or the one on Redbird Ln or Pleasant Run. Since I'm in Plano I decided to try this location but it's not worth it...drive further if you want good fish. If I could give it no stars for...
