A tale of two experiences (2.5 stars actually). The first time we went in Feb we had an incredible waitress who was absolutely exceptional and the food was amazing from start to finish. The GM came over with genuine care to ask if we were enjoying everything. 5 stars.
We went back last night for an early Mother's Day. Didn't start off on the right foot because our waiter came to the table and said hello sir how are you this evening (to my husband) ? without even acknowledging me. After he left I asked my husbad if he noticed that he only spoke to my husband. He did. When he came back to take our order, he only looked at my husband and said well sir have you found anything that you want? He only looked at my husband and was going to take his order first without even looking in my direction. Husband looks at me and I interjected and said well I've found a few things that I would enjoy- forcing the man to even look at me and take my order first. I was very insulted and annoyed. You just don't do that these days. This man was an older gentleman- I don't know. Crab cakes came out- great. After we ate, waiter brought out another order of them because he didn't even know someone else had brought them, we ate them, and they had been taken away. Salad was great. Bread basket was mediocre- cracker was stale, bread was over burned with some cheese on top, couldn't finish it. Husband's ordered pink cooked steak- IOW- med-med well. It came out blue in the middle basically. Mine was cooked right but blood was all over the plate. I ate half of my $55 steak. Husband actually didn't want to send it back but did because of the price we were paying.
They brought out his half eaten steak well done with a casual and half-hearted apology from the manager. The asparagus was hard as a rock. Mashed potatoes were good. They brought out a dessert with was okay at best for the bother of having to send back a steak that wasn't cooked to the customer's specifications, like it was his fault. Sloppy and piss-poor service. I don't want to complain about eating a steak at a nice place, but if you're paying for that experience you expect a higher level of quality and service for the occassional special occassion. Last night was one step above Texas Roadhouse. We won't be back thanks to the half-ass manager and sexist waiter-- and today we both have bad stomach aches. Overblown and overrated this time...
Read moreOMG! Is the only way to put it. This experience, the food, better yet the cuisine, the service, was another level of an exquisite experience. It made me realize that all the times I have given other restaurants five stars that I was just being kind and respectful. This establishment deserves 10 Stars. I don't say this lightly but it is the best dining and total meal experience my wife, daughter and grandchildren, and especially myself have ever had. It knocked my other two favorite restaurants Carrabba's and Pappadeaux's into the dirt. They are definitely great but they are chain franchises and the Capital Grille are unique Adventures. The menu is extraordinary and offers so many mouth watering choices it is hard to pick one. Starting with the wedge salad, the appetizer of calamari was the best ever and we have tried dozens of places before. I tried the Tenderloins with lobsters on top, my wife had the sliced filet with mushrooms. There were eight of us and everybody loved their choice of meal. Let's talk about the side dishes- world class garlic mashed potatoes, lobster mac and cheese, truffle fries unlike anything you've ever tasted. We also tried the seared brussel sprouts and we look forward to coming again and trying out the spinach and asparagus dishes. This has realigned our values and goals in fine dining and family celebrations. We can't wait to visit the Crescent location. One last thing, most of the entrees were around 50 to $60 a plate and then you paid for everything separately. This is one of the few places that I would say that it earned every bit of its value. I have spent much more at Ruth's Chris restaurants and not had half the enjoyment as I did here. How are there so much to say about this place I forgot to mention the drinks were amazing. Service unlike anywhere. I give this place the highest rating I have ever...
Read moreFine dining is more than just food. You want to feel important, cared for and build a relationship with your host. We certainly received that here with our host Patrick. He and the chefs made our night. We started with the steak tartare. It was very good a classic tartare, maybe not the very best ever had, but fantastic. I had the lobster bisque and it was a classic bisque very good with large chunks of lobster. Now to get into the excellent and beyond dishes. While maybe not your classic, fancy steak house item, the French onion soup is that naughty treat you sneak in. It was phenomenal. The steaks…can’t rave enough over them. The porcini crusted ribeye was full, rich, bold and a hint of umami from the porcini rub. The aged balsamic, while sparingly used, it was the perfect amount to not overtake the dish but still coat the pallet and wake it up. Every bite was meat heaven. The wife had the Gorgonzola crusted strip. While she would only share one bite, it was amazing. (Not quite as good as my perfectly cooked medium rare ribeye) the sides were great, served family style. The corn was fantastic, the Brussel sprouts were great with thick cut bacon and the mashed potatoes were sinfully creamy and delicious. Our host Patrick brought out a dessert menu as a playful trick, and just when we thought he had forgot about us, brings us two beautifully plated desserts as a gift for my wife’s birthday. The cheesecake and chocolate cake were beautiful, balanced and oh so good. I came in worried as a chain, they may not have the same care and standards as other fine dining establishments, but they quickly put that thought behind me. It quickly became my favorite steak house for the beef quality alone. The food and care from our host gives us a new place to host our events(or a spoil ourselves Thursday night). Can’t thank them enough for a...
