My brother told me about Twisted Root burger. My nephew and I went to Twisted Root Burger in Plano, Texas on 14th street for the 1st time last week. My brother eats there all the time at different locations. So, my nephew and I arrived and ordered a takeout order. Vegan burger and fries for my brother, classic burger for my nephew and a pilgrim burger with fries for me. I only live 5 minutes away and the food was hot and Awesome tasting! We enjoyed the meal and my nephew talked about trying pizza next time we visit.
I decided to treat myself on 8/20/2022 and go get me a take out lunch meal. I ordered a pilgrim burger and onion rings and a kale salad for another meal. I asked if there was a Rewards program and the cashier asked Margo, the manager. Margo ( I asked her name because I like to know who I am speaking to) said they are working on it. She gave me a $5 gift card to use on my next purchase/visit. I thanked her for the card which was kind of her. I told Margo I was here last week and we enjoyed the food. She was happy about this. While I waited on my meal to be prepared I sent a text/photo to my siblings of my order and the $5 gift card. My brother who was out of town gave my post a thumbs up. When the buzzer went off I happily picked up my bag and went home to enjoy my meal for now and kale salad for later. The pilgrim burger looked good BUT the bottom bun was hard. I do not know if it was stale and cooked/toasted. The top bun was soft and good. The onion rings were too salty. What happened this time? I do not eat out much but I thought I had found a new spot to get my meals. I did not enjoy/ eat that bottom bun. I know things happen. I will give the $5 card to my brother to use. Thanks for taking the time to read...
Read moreYou can't ever go wrong with the onion rings but that seems to be all lately. 2 weeks ago at the Mansfield location, I had the classic burger made Med with Wagu and replaced the cheddar cheese with goat cheese and the temp was right but it wass sooo grissley. I had ordered it to go so no chance to say anything.
Jusr a few minutes ago at the Plano 14th street location I ordered the same burger but forgot to order Med instead of the Mef-well and had a double order of goat cheese instead of the cheddar cheese. TALK ABOUT ALMOST INEDIBLE. Naaaasssty. I came in after a 24hr shift Starving and almost choked down half but it was so overcooked there was not a single bit of juice in it. I pointed it out to the bar tender who agreed it was way overdone but only said, "Yeah Wagu cooks way faster". OK , So Why doesn't the cook Know that?? I paid extra for the Wagu beef And the double goat cheese and havimg choked down half didn't expect it free by any means but he said nothing about a discount or that he would mention it to the cook. And this wagu wad also very grissley. What a total waste of money. I will probably start easting at The Village Burger Bar alot more. They are always consistantly good and only half the cost. Sorry Twisted Root. No more friend referrals till yall seem to have fixed your issues. BTW- I ordered at 3pm and was the Only order in the resturaunt. So no excuses on...
Read moreI’ve been here 5-6 times and will change my review to five stars when they’ve made the changes that are clearly in motion. I’ve always had a soft spot for Twisted Root. The one off of Campbell was in a weekly rotation for me before they closed. Though I think this new Plano location rushed things a bit. Here’s the good, bartenders are very funny, courteous, and prompt. Atmosphere is second to none for downtown Plano. Dog friendly, great music, and lots of space A++. Burgers and fries are still tasty and worth it albeit a little pricey. Here are the cons, they are making the same mistakes as Hub Street! My best guess is management…happy hour is very poor, draft kegs/pre-mixed cocktails are consistently empty, and on an insanely slow Sunday night it took ~35 minutes for my table to get four burgers. Anywho It appears the second building is now being turned into a game room which is awesome! Dear management, if you’re reading this here’s my advice. Throw a pool table and dart boards in the game room. Create a better happy hour/specials menu. People barhop in downtown Plano, you should try to KEEP them there with good deals. Make sure your kitchen staff is happy, healthy, and consistent. Fire your marketing guy. Not a single friend in Plano knew you guys opened or where you’re located. Get your house in order and you will be the hottest spot in downtown Plano this...
