This is my go to Starbucks as it’s in close proximity to my house and on my way to work. However, after the recent experience I had on Sunday, October 30th I will likely not return to this location. As a new mother, my baby is 3 months, I suppose I have more empathy than others for fellow new moms. Life is already challenging enough being a new parent, the last thing that needs to happen is something interfering with us getting our little cup of solace. While I was waiting in the line, a mother with her 2 month old baby was sitting inside trying to console her crying newborn. However, she was approached by the manager, Mikayla, and told she needed to leave. The mother was attempting to change her baby’s diaper at the table closest to the bathroom and furthest from other guests…. Due to the fact that the bathrooms do not offer changing tables. Apparently because she had not yet purchased a drink or food item, the manager told her she needed to change her child’s diaper at Wawa and leave immediately. The manager caused a scene in front of the crowded Starbucks, embarrassing a new mother during what was clearly a challenging moment for the mother and her baby. Instead of trying to accommodate the mother and her baby, the manager was rude and inconsiderate. Come to find out, the mom/baby were just passing through while traveling back up north and she was just trying to stop somewhere to get a few minutes out of the vehicle with her baby. Instead, she was isolated and condemned. Treated as if she and her child were a burden…. When in reality- Starbucks having no changing table was the biggest issue I could identify in this happenstance. Motherhood is already isolating enough- no need to isolate us further by not putting changing tables in the bathrooms and kicking a mother and baby out because they aren’t “customers” yet. I was just baffled and put off by what I witnessed. And speaking to the mother where she sat outside, crying while feeding her baby a bottle… I guess it hit differently because I could relate. But at the same time- how is this okay? I never leave reviews, but I felt this incident and the lack of changing tables at such a BUSY location needed to be mentioned and addressed. I want to prevent anything remotely similar to this from happening in the future, I think that Mikayla (manager) needs to also attend some sort of empathy training and further learn about...
Read moreIf I could give this location 0 stars I would. Here is my experience: I Went to this locations drive thru on 9/16 at 1:30 pm. When it was my turn at the window I gave the barista my gift card for payment and she gave me my order but never returned my gift card. I told her “there is a remaining balance on the gift card” and she replied “ok?” .. the barista was apparently super confused so I said to her “you never gave me back my gift card.” She kept telling me she already handed me back my card.
When she realized I wasn’t leaving the drive through without my gift card she finally walked around the store…. Aaanndd what do you know …she found my gift card in the trash. Unfortunately, the gift card was all bent up and not reusable (also came straight out of the trash can apparently). I asked her if she could put the money on a new card.
When the barista handed me back the new gift card and receipt I looked at the new receipt and she shorted me 61 cents (didn’t even tell me). Now I normally wouldn’t care about cents, but she didn’t even have the decency to let me know she was shorting me funds. At this point I asked for the manager because when I confronted the barista she said they can’t add cents back to a gift card on their system.
The manager that walked over to the window instantly added the change back on the gift card (shocking right I thought the system didn’t allow to add change back on)
Anyway the manager put the change back on the card, opened the window, and Didn’t even bother to ask what the problem was or what happened. Her first words to me were “I hope you’re happy she’s in the bathroom crying”
Like what in the world!! Something is wrong with these people (aside from the fact they have horrible customer service skills and just working skills in general)
Keep in mind I’m still not even sure why the barista was crying?! all I did was ask for my gift card with my correct remaining balance. I didn’t raise my voice or say anything rude to this barista. I’m thinking she was crying because she tried to steal my gift card and then argued with me about how she “already gave it to me”
Literally an awful experience! I don’t know who was worse the barista or the...
Read moreProbably the most perfect example of racism I have seen in front of my eyes. I was waiting in line JUST NOW (10:32 am Sunday, April 23rd) and left without ordering because I couldn't believe how RUDE the manager was to a customer who was simply asking for napkins. The manager slapped the napkins down on the counter in front of the customer in a very indifferent manner, and the customer, who seemed Jamaican (judging by the accent), asked the manager to have the napkin dispenser refilled, to which the manager, who is a young white woman with a short hair cut, responded loudly ," You know, I'm very busy at the moment, so I can't get to that right now." The response was rude and uncalled for. The customer got JUSTIFIABLY upset and responded loudly back, stating that she didn't have to treat her that way, and a shouting match began. The customer shouted "Why are you treating me like trashing? I'm not trash, YOU'RE TRASH." To which the manager responded, "Dont call me trash, why don't you go brush your hair?" (Her hair was perfectly fine, she was wearing her natural hair combed and neat.) The racism was so clear and obvious that NO ONE COULD DENY IT. It was embarrassing and just awful. Even her staff was watching uncomfortably and seemed appalled, but not surprised, by her lack of respect. The manager then proceed to threaten th customer with calling the police on her because she was yelling at her. I then turned and walked out with the customer because I couldn't support a business that treats ANYONE this way. Please note, all the dialogue I noted here is paraphrased, but none of it is false. Starbucks franchise owner, if you're reading this review, please fire this manager. She is clearly unfit for the...
