Part of my experiential learning for my term project is tasting authentic Moroccan cuisine. So I dragged my parents with me to Sunrise from North Miami! From the previous reviews, I can see it's been very popular and so I was not too worried about finding something to eat. I already had an idea that I'll be trying a dish with lamb!
The restaurant was easy to find, and we were greeted as soon as we walked in by, Rasheeda! She took our drink orders after seating as at a corner booth, with posh and elegant throw pillows. The ambiance was comfortable and hospitable. We tried an eggplant appetizer, ordered a medium pot of mint tea and we all had different lamb shank dishes. Mine was with prunes and almonds, my dad had the one with couscous, and my mom had veggies with hers.
We found the mint tea to be perfectly delightful as well as the dishes to be hearty and fall-off-the-bone tender! The saffron rice was perfectly cooked and tasting the couscous was divine.
Noelis was very helpful and informative, just like Rasheeda and was able to give their insights on the cuisine and where I could also inquire about experiencing a religious ceremony at a local mosque. All in all, a wonderful and...
Read moreSo today we set our sites on some Moroccan food and after doing some research I wanted to try family run Dar Tajine Moroccan Restaurant on W Sunrise in Plantation. When we showed up it was closed 😩 even though google said it was open. I decided to call and thankfully a wonderful person answered and let us in early! They were cleaning today and delayed the opening. They could have turned us away but welcomed us in. A beautiful interior awaited us as well with some Moroccan music on the tv screen. A nice change as opposed to places that dont match their restaurant to the native music. We started off with some mint tea and Arabic coffee. Refreshing and interesting flavors. Coffee has a unique taste. Next we tried the Lamb chops with saffron rice and Bastilla ( chicken in a puff pastry with seasonings). The 4 chops were tender and nicely grilled with spices and the saffron rice was tasty. Thankfully not over salted. The Bastilla was shredded chicken mixed with sweet seasonings in a pastry shell topped with almond slivers, powdered sugar and cinnamon. Simple and tasty! Truly thankful for their hospitality and great foold and already planning a return for the...
Read moreThis was the absolute worst experience I've ever had! First let me start by saying that my husband and I are very easy going people and both in the hospitality business, and if there's a mistake or mishap, we're very reasonable and understand that things happen, but when someone is obnoxious and rude, that's completely unacceptable. My husband and I went here for lunch. We ordered an appetizer and 2 kabobs. We waited for ONE HOUR for 2 Kabobs!! Our waitress/manager was on her personal cell phone the entire time and didn't once come give us the courtesy of apologizing for the LONG wait. Once we received our kabobs, they were BURNT with NO FLAVOR!! When I approached our waitress and asked to speak with a manger, she advised me that she was the manager and I was shocked to hear this based on her lack of professionalism being on her cell phone the whole time and not checking on us for ONE HOUR while we waited for our burnt food. When I explained that the food was burnt and that we couldn't eat it, all she said was "sorry, maybe next time will be better". WHAT??? This person is an absolute disgrace to the...
