Country Kitchen — Restaurant in Platteville

My wife and I tried to eat here yesterday (12/22/20) around 11:00am. Our waitress today came to take our order without writing down anything and in the middle of ordering remembered she for got part of another customers order. We received our drinks and then just waited. During this time we watched a man come in and order 2 eggs and coffee, she forgot his coffee ( this section was not busy). She finally went back to the other customers whom she forgot some food and asked them if they wanted it, they told her no as it had been too long. After those customers left two more sat down there and 15 minutes later left because no one even came to the table. She then went back to another table to ask them if she took their order because she was unsure(they already ordered). Meanwhile every customer she had contact with she kept saying sorry, it was very annoying as at this point we still had no food or refills and had not even come back to the table. As we waited we watched her clean a table with dishes, glasses, and all the garbage by hand making several trips to the kitchen without washing her hands and then going to the counters by the coffee touching everything ( we could see it all from our seats). There was garbage overflowing in a bus pan by the salad bar for everyone to see and another employee just kept stacking more on top. Finally my wife went up front to ask for a manager and explained the situation as he was in back cooking and had no clue to what the server was doing or the fact we had no food or refills in an hour. She accused my wife of not wanting to pay for the food, (BTW) we still have yet to receive in which we told them we will pay our bill and leave we are not going to eat any of it. Not once in this whole time did she stop our table, but we did hear her tell the manager she was busy, with what we do not know, we watched all of this just waiting for food. Visited Country Kitchen in Platteville to grab a light dinner as I had already had two heavier meals earlier in the day. Now I should preface this review by stating I did not get any breakfast food which judging by the plaque/framed signed in their dining area is what is best to get. Now I got the Country Cob with raspberry vinaigrette and a water; My mother got a lemonade, the cheese curds, and potato soup. The country Cob does not come with corn which is fine as the description did not mention corn, however it does come with avocado which is the whole reason I got the salad, however that turned out to not matter as the avocado in my salad was as stiff as a board, I could not even cut it with a fork, and the consistency really reminded me of raw potato. I opted to not complain and just eat everything but the avocado as I had a long day and was pretty done by this point. My mothers soup was fine she said, and so where the cheese curds, the problem arose when the cheese curds arrived and the advertised ranch dressing that was supposed to come on the side where not present, when asked if it came with dipping sauce the waiter said," yeah, it comes with sauce if you want, what would you like?" It was as if he was unaware that the menu stated the chosen food product came with sauce at all. In addition to that my mother asked our waiter if she could get a separate cup full of ice which the waiter forgot about and brought to her later, he did apologize which was nice, however Country Kitchen must be strapped for cash as they must not have wanted to part with their precious ice cubes giving us a glass barely filled a quarter of the way with ice. Then the check came and what a check. Up near the register I noticed that they had been utilizing an ancient calculator known as an abacus, I believe to count the guests in the store, however I feel like it was more likely what they used to calculate the exuberant price for their subpar food, and service .......2 Stars because the...

I will never again go to this restaurant. I took my sister and my two kids and her son. We were there for an hour and a half only family in there. As soon as we sat down they expected us to order. We had no silverware so we asked for some. We got r app that was hot ( only thing we got that was hot) still no silverware. ( by now we asked 2times for it) we then got r sides for the 3 kids meals and toast for one meal. But no main dishes. When we got r main dish we both asked for cheese on r hash browns ( which we know she heard us cause she told us it was gonna be an extra charge for it) still no silverware this is 35 mins in to us being there. I then got up and went to the front and asked for silverware. Where I was greeted with attitude Eye rolls and telling me that they were busy. Again it was me my sister and our 3 kids in there with one other couple. They brought us over silverware asking how many we needed clearly we need five she brings over 4, then when we say we need five she goes on to tell us that she’ll have to roll more cuz they have none. (Yet she had time to have a full on convo with a customer about him being 20mins late for his pick up) We had to send our hashbrowns back when we got our food back it was even colder and then I found hair in my food. My daughters grilled cheese was ice cold. My sister‘s two-year-old sons eggs were supposed to be scrambled but they were slimy and tasted horrible. My son ordered the Mr. chippy pancake and when it came out to him it had no chocolate chips in it are on it let alone whip cream. So we had to send that back. I ordered a cup of their potato soup and didn’t get it through the whole meal but they charged me for it. The staff was very rude when confronted about the issues that we are having. And the managers answer to my complaints was to give you 15% off and not charge you for the soup that you never got. My bill was $75 it came down to 57.
