Loco BECAUSE of (not for) Cocolitos. Only giving one star because I have to... I would give negative stars if I could. We waited 40 minutes to be seated, when they told it would be 15 minutes. They had 5 tables that were seated when we sat down, and 3 waitresses working (and about 5 open tables). As we sat down, we overheard an upset customer request their check with an angry tone and facial expression (their table of 4 women all had only half-eaten plates of food on their table and declined to-go boxes... and didn't seemed amused). It took an additional 30 minutes for our waitress to take our order. She did not introduce herself (did not know her name) or apologize for the delay. My wife and I got our food an hour after we ordered, both beef chimichangas... cold, flavorless, after 10 minutes, we had to ask for silverware. The waitress told me mine was chicken, I said I ordered beef, and she just said, 'it's whatever you ordered'. The green sauce and red sauce looked the same, green sauce was chunkier... both looked like leftover Thanksgiving Day gravy (brown). Our kids didn't get their food yet (chicken tenders, corndog and fries). After flagging down a different waitress (ours was no where to be found) we had to ask where our kid's food was. She seemed apologetic and actually sorry. Our waitress then came to our table to tell us a different waitress took our kid's food to their table (blaming the other waitress and didn't apologize). We waited 45 minutes after the mistake and still had to ask when our food was coming (shouldn't take 45 minutes to cook chicken nuggets, corndog and fries). By this time our boys were crying because they were so hungry and asked to go to Sonic instead because they don't take this long. When we asked for the check and refused to pay for the kids food that took over an hour and 30 minutes to get, the waitress again blamed the other waitress saying, 'it's not my fault...'. We found out our waitress was the manager (and probably owner). She never apologized or seemed to care of our experience. And she had no problem throwing her employee under the bus by blaming her for stealing our order and giving it to a different family. I've never had a more terrible experience of customer service before... especially from a manager (and possibly the owner). Our waitress probably only spoke a total of 17 words to us, mostly to pass the blame on her employee. We paid with cash specifically so they couldn't get the chance of charging our card for more than what was on the reciept (stealing money) like other customers have experienced. Should have read the reviews before walking in the door....
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at this restaurant, and I must say, it was an unforgettable experience. Here's what made it exceptional:
Food Quality: The food came out steaming hot, which immediately set the stage for a delicious meal. Appetizer:
The homemade bean dip is an absolute standout. It's rich, flavorful, and a must-try. The combination of fresh ingredients and a homemade touch really makes it shine.
Main Course: I opted for the chili relleno, and it didn't disappoint. The breading on the chili is exceptional and adds a delightful texture to the dish.
Specialty Drinks: Be sure to try one of their cocolitos specialty drinks – they're all incredible. They provide a refreshing and unique complement to the meal.
Parking and Location: Parking is convenient, with options just across the street or on the same street as the restaurant. It's reassuring to know that you won't have to struggle to find a parking spot.
The restaurant is situated in the heart of downtown on historic Main Street, which adds to the overall charm of the experience.
Staff and Service: The staff is friendly and accommodating. Although some of the newer staff may not have all the answers yet, their warmth and willingness to assist make up for it.
Service has consistently been quick during each of our visits, with no frustrating wait times. It's clear that they value your time and prioritize efficient service.
Sides and Chips: Don't forget to order the bean dip; it's a side that pairs well with any dish. The salsa and chips that come with the meal are a delightful appetizer, with a mild salsa that complements the flavors of the meal. In summary, this restaurant offers a fantastic dining experience. With its hot and flavorful food, a standout bean dip, and a variety of specialty drinks to choose from, it's a place that deserves a visit. The convenient parking options and historic Main Street location only add to the appeal. The staff's friendliness and quick service make it a place you'll want to return to. If you're looking for a new dining spot in town, don't...
Read moreI am older and can't eat a lot of what restaurants serve so I always order ala carte or off the children's menu. My first experience in Cocolito's I tried ordering my standard one chicken enchilada. They do not have al ala carte menu so I tried to order the one chicken enchilada on the children's menu. I was so shocked when the waitress told me I couldn't order that because it was for children 10 and under. I asked about her ala carte menu and told her I just wanted one chicken enchilada. She told me they had it in combinations with tacos or other items but not alone and I had to order exactly off the menu. I politely expressed my displeasure at the menu. As she was walking away after taking our order she turned and jumped all over me that I needed to change my attitude. Needless to say me and my party walked out without eating. The only place I have ever went to that wouldn't serve me what I went in to order. The waitress was way out of line. Oddly we were the only customers in the restaurant and I also had to wait 5 minutes for them to seat us. I won't be going there again. Definitely the worst restaurant experience of my life and the rudest...
