Normally we use the drive thru, but today my 6 yr old granddaughter and I decided to go into the store since it looked like no one was in there and we'd get our ice cream quickly.
We saw two people hustling to fill drive thru customers' orders; a man and a woman who may have been the owner/manager? We weren't initially greeted, but in a bit we got a 'be right there.'
After a minute or so I realized I'd left my wallet in the car so we retrieved it and came back in. The woman said, 'oh good I thought you'd left because of the wait.' We waited a bit longer for someone to take our order when a young employee entered the front of the building to which the woman behind the counter (manager?) called out, 'you're late; get back here and wash your hands.'
I understand it's frustrating to be busy and be short of hand, but I'm wondering if that kind of 'greeting' was appropriate with customers at the counter? We quickly ordered two medium cones which were the size of smalls, paid and left. We were still feeling a bit uncomfortable for the young employee who was dressed down in front of us.
Upon leaving my granddaughter said to me, 'next time can we go to the Dairy Sweet in LeClaire? They're nice there.' I think that's great advice.

Had the same problem with parking, they weren't even open and we finished eating at Jimmy's, this class act literally blocked my car with his BMW because I was parked in his lot, as Jimmy's was full. His store was closed and all spots were open. He then tried to insult my intelligence and reading comprehension. Yes, I can read the absurd menacing sign on every spot that shows everyone you are a total douche, I just dgaf.
