Under the new management, the offerings here are delectable- especially the South Indian affair.
The Sambar and the coconut chutney remind me of a long forgotten taste and aroma. My litmus test has been the vada Sambar. I must’ve ordered that twice and the chef did impress! The plain dosa, Masala dosa, idli Sambar, Rawa dosa were up next and they did not disappoint either! I recall our first time at AV few months ago - love anything hot & spicy- we went all out with the veg corn soup , the tomato soup, chilly paneer, baby corn Manchurian and the channa bhatura. Everything was such a treat because it was hot and spicy which suited our palate.
Our experience with the same offerings the next time could not be just the same but it wasn’t sub par either. I understand not everyone prefers their food hot and spicy which is why they might have turned the heat down on our favorites which we didn’t quite know at the time we placed our order. We assumed the food to be exactly what we had experienced the first time. I’ll be sure to mention our likings the next time we visit.
It’s a decent place for a nice South Indian affair if staring at ornate walls & decor is not your jam. Our servers have been very courteous, friendly & patient with us. They could run busy on few occasions. Keep up the humor with the hard working serving staff and do say hello to the very shy chef if you had a...
Read moreLooking for a chill spot that won't have you elbowing your way through a crowd at 11:30 AM on a Saturday in the Tri Valley area? Well, let me spill the beans on Arusuvai – your go-to for some comfy, home-style, veggie-loaded South Indian grub! So, picture this: We walk in, and there's this friendly person (probably the boss) at the counter, dishing out suggestions like a pro. We went with his flow and ordered Combo 2 and the Lunch Thali – turns out, he knows his stuff!
Now, I've got a thing about South Indian joints – their chutneys need to be on point. And let me tell ya, the coconut chutney here had me all smiles. It clung onto that fresh vibe and burst of flavors even though lunchtime was peeking around the corner. Thali time! It's the classic deal – rice, and you get to pick chapati or poori. Plus, the usual suspects like Sambar, poriyal, chana curry, rasam, kesari (sweet treat), yogurt, and pappadam. The Tiffin combo 2 presented an unexpected twist: a serving of plain dosa, upma (with the option of pongal instead), idli, medu vada and kesari! – a comprehensive assortment, all priced at a reasonable $12.99. Oh, and the filter coffee? Nice 'n strong, though some might say a smidge too punchy. But for me, it was love at first sip.
So, summing it up, we had a nice time, and I'm already eyeing a repeat visit. Can't deny the craving for more of...
Read moreThis place has the worst service, this is not the first time we are going to this restaurant. Last time we went and ordered meals and it was late we have to wait atleast 30 mins in our table on top of that Thali comes with poori or chapathi. It generally comes with meals so you eat that first. Last time it came almost in the end. I thought it was because of the crowd and I was okay for delay. But today I went and experience was even worst, it took 50 mins for meals to show up in table and same thing continued for poori and chapatti. I ordered poori and my wife ordered chapathi. Until we asked they did not bothered to get anything. Finally I got my poori and my wife never got her chapathi. Next one in the menu they said meal will have cabbage, that is an another bummer we got cauliflower finally which my wife completely hate. If you have a problem with service one week you should improvise next time. We pay a lot and we get the service at their pleasure. It is like we almost wasted 2 hours of our Saturday afternoon. We went here because this is close to us, we don't want to go Fremont where there are other better hotels. If this is the service You going to get every week, it is better to go other places. Next time if someone goes here ask for the wait time because you need to pay first before getting table. Next food is not that great either,...
